Greetings, I am Arachanox, and as of this post I have experienced zero (0) lucid dreams!

But of course, I am just beginning to try. Therefore, according to the first step I have read, I will be posting all my fuzzy dreams here and performing reality checks hourly in hopes of one day being able to become a lucid dreamer.

      So...here we go!

February 15, 2007, Method: "I Will Remember My Dreams"

      1. I only remembered three dreams today, and the first was the strangest. I recall being like a character in an old swords n' sorcery type game. It didn't make much sense because I was seeing like the overhead view you would in a video game, but no game screen, keyboard, anything. Just the overhead view. But I could remember myself pressing keyboard keys, especially P. P would make this little bar beneath my character drop by one number, with the maximum 25. Whenever that would occur, something like a dark flood of purple water (poison?) would expand, flooding the hordes and hordes of enemies coming at me. These enemies, I recall, where actually the "good guys", holy dwarf type people with giant hammers, which was confusing. I usually aren't the evil/bad/necromancer type person in the games I play, but I was this time. My fluffy poison did absolutely nothing to hurt them it seemed, and by the transition of my first dream to the second, I was cornered by two Dwarf warriors with golden names above their heads (can't remember their names.)

      2. As the dwarf war drifted away, I appeared in one of my semi-recurring dreams. I believe this was my second or third time in it. I appear in a jungle type setting with extremely tall trees with wooden walkways connecting them. You can't see the ground (or rather I didn't notice it) and I know I was on some four-wheeled device (possibly a wheelchair? jeep? skateboard?). I drift through the walkways, almost like a trail in a nature park or something. By the time the "first trail" ends, I always, ALWAYS make a wrong turn, and have to backtrack a little while before getting to the second trailhead again. That dream then disappeared, leading the to most fuzzy one.

      3. This third one was probably most fuzzy because I woke up during it. There was no transition at all, but my untrained non-lucid (yet&#33 mind didn't detect anything. All I can recall is that there was a path...with other people on it. It strangely reminded me of a long path of refugees I saw on this Japanese anime I saw a few days ago. Where the path was, I don't know, but I remember there was a turn on a cliff or something, and then there was something religious. Highly religious. Don't have a SINGLE clue of what it was, but at the end of the path in that anime, there was a religious shrine, so maybe that was my influence. Regardless, it was time for me get up then, and I awoke.

And those were my first 3 dreams during my path to lucidity. I do have to say that I haven't remembered a single dream in six months until I did the "I WILL remember my dream!" technique last nigth, so that was exciting! So I guess I should say hi all, for I will be here for quite a while!

      Respect, Salutations and all that,

      ~Arachanox

Eh, absolutely nothing. Blank mind. But that's why I'm training! No more 61-point thingy though.

February 17, 2007, Method: Used the Avaliable mp3

Well I awoke at 3 a.m. as planned, turned on the mp3 on my computer, and went back to sleep. One hour later, I woke up. But in between that time something strange happened. The details are fuzzy however.

Either I had a dream about lucid dreaming, or a very unfocused lucid dream. I remember telling myself I'm dreaming, and wishing that I had some chocolate cake (I'm allergic to anything in a bakery). It appeared, and I ate it (yum&#33. But the thing is, I'm not sure if I was lucid then, and since it wasn't very detailed, i'm not counting it has my first lucid.

February 18, 2007, Method: Just Working on Dream Recall

Yea, I got some recall last night! Though they were four short dreams, I'm glad that I remembered something.

      1. The first dream I can remember originated from all that posting I did in the "Religion and Spirituality" forum last night. My family and I went to some strange place, I don't remember what it was like. But standing out from the entire city, as if the other buildings weren't there, there was this giant temple. What surprised me was that it wasn't a temple, but a Roman Catholic Church. So, following the flow of the dream, I went inside. For some reason, time just skipped to the end of the mass. The pastor dismissed us, and the dream faded.

      2. This one was strange to me. For some reason, the family and me had just gone shopping I guess, but we decided not to take what we bought out of our car. Five minutes later, I saw two guys stealing it all outside. I went out there, and tackled them, which didn't make much sense seeing as they were twice as big as me. We fought for a while, but then that dream faded as well.

      3. The third dream I had regarded school. I was in class, it was either Spanish or some class about the world. The teacher, who I can't recall details about, was collecting some assignment or other, and of course I didn't have it (dream). I remember trying to do it, but then the dream left me again.

      4. My last dreams are always the most fuzzy, because I wake up and any subconcious concentration is broken. All I can remember are these words spoken by someone: "The Japanses are fools, they can't turn copper into iron."

So no lucidity tonight, but I had more recall than other times. I guess I'm getting better over time!

Wow, in one week you've already imporved your dream recall in ways that can take weeks, remembering more than one dream [four's really good, even if they're not as vivid as you want them to be].

Call me strange for reading other people's Dream journals but it's just as interesting to me as finding out what my mind has in store for me dream wise since the human mind is a complex and unique thing.

      Good luck on tonights dream

Thanks for the luck! And it isn't strange, I read other people's dream journals to see what other's minds are creating at night.

      1/2 lucids so far...

April 2, 2007, Method: More Dream Recall

Last night's dreams were weird. Occasionally I will go through a period where I will become absolutely obssessed with a show or something, and I will try to find every single thing about it that I could.

Well, yesterday was one of those days, and the topic happened to be the show Naruto. Thus, my dream was based upon that.

      Number of Dreams: 2 fragments
Quality of Recall: Low, fragments of memory
Senses Quality: High, I could remember all the visual aspects well, but nothing else as they were silent.

      1. The first fragment...if anyone knows in-depth about Naruto, then you would know that recently the series went through a 2 1/2 time skip to give time for the gennin to age a bit. Well my dream put together a situation of what if 2 1/2 more years passed, then what would they look like? I was given two very brief views of an 18-year old Kiba and 19-year old Neji. For the sake of describing details, it looked like Kiba was wearing the same type of jacket he wears now, except with the addition of spikes, almost like fangs, to the shoulders. I also think he had spikes on some boots, but I'm not sure. One more blurry memory is that I think that Kiba was holding a very large, spiked-hilt sword. I'm not sure. Neji looked the same as he does now, only taller.

      2. This was a completely different scene from before. It was like I stumbled into an old Gameboy Game, with the tradtional over-head view. I don't remember what my character looked like, but he walked around a little world until he came across another GameBoy low detail version of Kiba. After pressing a button next to him, a menu appeared, after which I selected 'Join Party'. Then Kiba began to follow me around wherever I walked...After a while more of aimless walking without any real memory, I pressed a button for 'Leave Party', and Kiba began to walk back to where I had orginally found him.

My dreams, are in essence, absolutely crazy. They can be so strange at times, but I guess they reflect my random personality.

Ah, you're dreams sound nice, even if it's only aimless walking. I can't blame you on the random feeling, random things tend to show up in my dreams too [even one with going to high school with Naruto characters, the classes were like normal high school but the homerooms and school itslef was amazing]. I hope you have more dreams that you can remember Arachanox, evenitself if random, they really do sound fun.

Since I'm starting over from a long time ago, it's back to square one with dream recall.

      July 22, 2008:

I could only remember a fragment of a single dream: a car pulling into my garage slowly, as to avoid my two cats who were running around inside.

I just woke up after five hours in a WBTB-styled attempt, so I don't have any lucidity yet. I was planning on waking up six hours into sleeping, but for some reason I woke up early. I think because of this, I only have a small fragment of a dream (or maybe my recall is still bad?) I'll try to recall as many details as I can:

July 23, 2008 (before REM sleep):

I am a ranger, wielding a bow with a dark, brown cape and similarly colored clothes on. The dream was from a third-person perspective, but it only lasted for a few seconds. I was standing on top of a yellow hill, perhaps a sand mound. It was obviously influenced from me playing Guild Wars for a few hours yesterday, especially since I have been dealing with the ranger class in-game a lot. But that's all I remember.

Ok then, I'm 34 minutes into staying up and I'm pushing for 60. When I wake up later hopefully I will have more dreams to share!

Well I woke up after another 3 1/2 hours, and yay I was able to remember some dreams! They are fairly abstract and game-related, but a step towards dream recall is always good.

July 23, 2008 (after REM sleep):

#1 Shuttle Wars: To anyone who is looking forward to Starcraft 2, this dream was reminiscent of that. It was in a traditional third-person perspective like many of my dreams are, but there was no game interface of any sort. The map very well could have been on the dark, deep blue-colored planet of Shakuras (the Dark Templar homeland), for it looked like that and had shattered cliffs. There was a great chasm separating the northeast and southwest bases, with me in the southwest I believe. A smaller plateau-island (an expansion, owned by me) sat in between in the middle of deep canyon, and it was covered with a few turret-like buildings that launched anti-air missiles (which is strange, because we were both Protoss and missiles are the Terran's deal).

Here's a picture of the topography of the map, but I'm not a good artist. And that isn't water on the sides, it's supposed to be a steadily darkening chasm. The map was completely dry.

So the battle summarized is this: the enemy has three pairs of shuttles hovering over docks and sent them over the chasm towards my center island. Though the missile turrets attempted to ward them off, the shuttles managed to get to the island. Due to my forgetfulness, I can't remember what specifically happened next, all I know is that I lost that match.

#2 That Evil Woman: Two nights ago, I struggled to remember anything from my dreams. I think this second dream was a spin-off of an earlier one, because it feels familiar. All the details like locations and names are gone, but the feelings remain. There is this woman, who for some reason I was bound to (not maritally, there were other kids with her as well). I think I was a young boy in this dream, 8-10. Anyway, I just -knew- what the point of the dream was without remembering how. That woman was casually directing me to murder someone, something that I could not manage to accomplish. While I worried about her anger when I knew I couldn't follow her order, I happened to miss going out somewhere with my parents and my aunt, who I don't see that often (which by the way completely threw off any straightforwardness in this dream). Finally, the time frame of "one and a half hours" seems prominent, but I don't know why. It has to do with my parents though, maybe how late I was before they realized I wasn't coming? I'm unsure. No picture because of a lack of memorable visuals.

#3 Quick Battle: This extreme fragment is a very quick one, involving Guild Wars again since it's the current game I'm playing. I was a Ritualist, in a fight, and I used a skill called "Lightning Touch" that knocked down foes, temporarily incapacitating them. Now normally I wouldn't bother you guys with such mundane and nerdy details, but I actually remember reading numbers in a dream! Something like this hasn't happened to me ever before, that I can remember. Whenever you highlight a skill in Guild Wars, it gives you three numbers, and this "Lightning Touch" costed 5 energy, took 1 second to activate, and recharged in 9 seconds. All of this makes no sense, because "Lightning Touch" is -not- a Ritualist skill; it's an Elementalist skill. And it doesn't knockdown people, it blinds them. One last minor detail for the sake of it: While the real lightning touch looks like this:
, it had this type of color scheme because all Ritualist skills are like it:

This dream lasted mere seconds, or if it lasted longer I forgot the majority of it.

#4 Stadium/another Guild Wars Dream: Though this fourth fragment is a continuation of sorts of the second and third dreams, the murderous intent plot is not there at all. I am with the "other kids" that the evil woman had, and we are in a giant indoor stadium discussing the capabilities of the fake "Lightning Touch". And that's all for this dream; I couldn't tell you of anything we said, what we looked like, etc.

#5: The Mafia Lord: This dream was literally dreamt seconds before I woke up, which explains why I can remember a complicated name. Breaking off from everything I just dreamed about, I visualized a long, dark hallway with a single, large man standing in the middle of it. I heard a voice speaking, and I didn't know if it was mine:

"Who was he? He was Guitarri Pitarro, ninth and final of the Italian mafia lords."

Now you can sue me if that isn't a real Italian name, because it probably isn't. And it is interesting, I always seem to have one-liners of speech right before I wake up when I dream. If only it happened before I dreamed, then it would be an excellent dream signal!

That's all for last night. Five is a good number, espeically since me "willing" to remember my dreams has caused me to come out of a dream dry-spell

Stay tuned for more random dreamscapes!

July 24, 2008: Deception of the Snake at the Beach and Frisbee Party

In this dream, I was collecting animals in a strange sort of way reminiscent of my old Pokemon days. I would use a small, revolving blue sphere and propel it towards an animal, after which it would become a half-sphere and then envelope the target, becoming whole again. I was going out capture this bird, so I released a blue sphere but the bird flew off, but luckily the spheres have homing devices, and I ran after it. I went out into the swampish back country, but for some strange reason when I got back there it was a sand-barish place with ocean currents as if I was near the sea! The ocean currents were clearly visible in the water; it was a beautiful sight to clearly see all of the white rings of energy (waves) move through the blue water in and out around the shoreline. I saw that the sphere had caught the bird and had come to rest on top of this thin sand bar, which I was lucky for because if it had falling into the sea I knew it would have drifted away. As I drudged through the sand and water in order to pick it up, I accidentally knocked the sphere into the water as I had feared.

All of a sudden, however, there was a boy standing behind me with two bad-looking puncture marks on his arm, and he yelled at me saying he needed help because he just got bitten by a non-venomous snake. I immediately threw down my green nalgene water bottle into the water as well as my blue backpack and rushed over to escort him back up the road towards his house (which I knew where it was for some reason, despite me not knowing anything about this place). It was odd because as we walked, the scenery changed from a seaboard-esque scene back into deep forests almost instantly. It was the type of pristine forest where there would be a house every 10 minutes as you drove along the winding road through it. When I arrived at his house things had already changed for the worse when I looked at his arm, because it was entirely cut up with deep gashes (which weren't bleeding, but I didn't pay attention to). I said something along the lines of, "Wait, you are just cut up, aren't you?" He said, "Yup!" with a mischievous smile and went inside without another word. I wasn't angry, but just offset that he really wasn't snake-bitten. An older man (that looked familiar for some reason) walked out of the house and went over to a retro-looking car since we were both standing in a garage, and I asked if I knew him. Turned out it was "Andrew's dad", but Andrew wasn't the kid who had just messed with me. Andrew's dad said I should go inside the house and find snake-boy's dad, but I said, "Oh no, it would be too rude to go in and bother him."

So I turned around and left, but right before I went too far out of the garage, the dad of snake-boy walked outside his house. I walked up to him and asked if he knew about what happened with his son, and he said yes, he did know. At this point the dream forgot about the snake incident, but it still continued in the same house. I turned around again to leave the garage, but I saw that a car was pulling in behind another. When the owner got out of his car, I exclaimed that he only had a "centimeter, no, half a centimeter" of space in between his car and "Andrew's dad's". All of a sudden, I was surrounded with cars, all of them with no space in between them, and I was trapped just outside his garage! I also realized that somehow I magically had my green water bottle back with me, though I had thrown it into the water earlier to help snake-boy. For some reason I wouldn't let go of the bottle and for some other dream-reason it was too big for me to escape from between the cars (I don't know why I didn't just crawl under or something).

I don't remember this part of the dream well, because then the cars vanish and I am in the far side of a grassy field, with a party (presumably still at snake-boy's house) not too far away. On the field separating me and the back porch, there was a large group of kids playing frisbee. I noticed four of them; a group of friends I have: a set of triplets, and a fourth kid who looks just like them. Since all four used to be really similar, we sometimes call them the quadruplets. As I walked up to the party (with the green nalgene bottle still with me), I dropped it in the field for some reason. I heard a yell and turned around, realizing that someone had slipped and fallen on it. As I went to pick it up, either "Andrew" (a different Andrew) or one of his brothers wondered what was going on. At this point the dream fades.

      ---

This dream really stands out from what I usually have, because of a number of reasons. First of all, it is a dream in first-person! As most of my dreams are in third-person or extremely abstract, it was exciting to "live" this dream myself! Another thing is that I didn't just remember about it as I woke up; I remember experiencing it in the middle of the night, meaning that if I had seen any dream signs then I could have gone lucid. Thirdly, this wasn't a series of distant, unrelated fragments like I usually have; this was one long dream, which I like more than unrelated fragments.

My method wasn't good, however. I woke up after 5 hours expecting to stay up an hour or so for WBTB, but I couldn't bear the thought of staying up for I was too tired. I went and got some water and fell back asleep quickly. Yet there were so many accomplishments in this dream, I think I'll modify this modified version of WBTB and see if it works for me!

I decided against posting a dream journal entry today because my dreams were mostly short and would be very hard to describe. Also, my sleeping habits were off-set last night, meaning the dreams were also uneventful.

This is again a pre-REM entry five hours into a WBTB method. I los the majority of my dream when I woke up but I tried to remember the fragments.

July 26, 2008 (before REM sleep):
There had something to do with either ping-pong or tennis and how my friend J.D. had started a league for it, which is odd considering he is a computer science person and -not- the tennis person in our Computer Science class. My dream also had something to do with planting palm trees in lines on top of dams for some reason; this was supposed to do something environmentaly good but in my fragmented mind apparently something about this wasn't that good.

I know this makes little sense; I'll try to remember more.

Bothersome family members caused me to lose my memory this morning, so nothing. I know that if I had woken up properly, I would have been able to remember something.

The first fragment I can remember is partially influenced by a show called "Avatar" in which the main character can control the four western elements of fire, water, air, and earth. In this dream I am something like that, except I don't have mastery over fire. I think I was in a large fortress or castle on top of a tall hill in some rocky plains. Aside from dealing with some antagonists that I can't clearly remember, I experimented often in the dream with messing with the elements. Two or three times and I would reach out and pull, shifting my body in one direction, to have all the winds around the castle blow in that direction. I was able to create water out of thin air and shoot it at things with great speed, though the amount of water and the pressure of it depended greatly on how much willpower I put into it. Lastly, I experimented with earth twice; once to create a stone prison to surround a bad guy (which didn't fully work) and the other time creating a small house out of fun (by raising up stone walls and then putting a roof on top.) While this dream was fun and interesting, it didn't nearly match my expectations for the power I will have in my first lucid!

I know I had more dream fragments in between this first and last one, but I woke up and went back to sleep several times this morning and lost them.

The last dream fragment I had involved me driving with my brother and my dad. There was some specific place we were trying to go to, but by the end of the fragment this was entirely forgotten. At first, the places we drove to seemed to fit in with the city where I live, but then the dream aspect took over and we were on this long, winding road called "Amazing Ridge". What made it "Amazing" was that, despite the fact that it was a paved road, it was covered in gravel; but this gravel wasn't rock, it was a layer of nuts, bolts, washers, and other small mechanical pieces. Normally this would make driving with traction impossible, but we continued on fine. Also, cars on the "Amazing Ridge" were incredibly durable, meaning you couldn't damage them easily. As we drove along, I realized that the entire road was lined with shops and stores on both sides. Eventually (after some interesting segments of me driving blind), we reached an end where the road made a 90-degree turn on to some other street. I don't know what the other street was, but a sign marker on the corner told me that the name "Amazing Ridge". Suddenly the dream changed to something similar but different; the winding and curving road was no longer a road, but a river, and there weren't cars on it, but boats. A boat came up behind us with three women talking about how the last time they got into a boat wreck, they had to ward off 2 raccoons and some other animals while they repaired it.

This was my first lucid dream. I'll copy paste it here:

      First Lucid:

So, for anyone who has been paying attention to the weather for the Caribbean and the Gulf Coast, you would know that Hurricane Gustav recently hit Cuba and Louisiana quite badly. I was caught in that maelstrom, and having ~50 mile per hour sustained winds with 80 mph gusts for half a day is not very fun. Up until this time, I had forgotten again about lucid dreaming, since school had cut into my time to focus on LDing. So I was completely surprised when the night after the storm I found myself subconsciously saying in my dream that "I am dreaming, I am dreaming", and then the clarity (relatively) I found myself in soon after. I am just guessing here, but perhaps my mind was giving me a break after such a stressful experience? Anyway, this happened a week ago and my lack of power and internet has restricted me from posting this earlier. Luckily, I wrote it down with good ole pen and paper, so here it is.

The night started off like any of my school-related dreams in which I am running from class to class not knowing what time it is, which classes I should be in, where I am, and if I have the right books. It isn't really a nightmare, just a very stressful dream. Since I was sleeping on the floor (my bedroom upstairs wasn't exactly safe) I slept fitfully without a mattress on blankets, and I woke up for mere moments many times before falling back asleep instantly. One of these times during the night, however, I fell asleep with an odd sensation I had never felt before. Though I could "see" myself running through my school, I could "feel" my still body as it lay in bed in the waking world. Without thinking much about it, I told myself that I was dreaming. Then I suddenly realized that maybe I could take advantage of this semi-consciousness, and I immediately began to say "I am dreaming" constantly. Unfortunately, the dream world began to fade, and I feared that I would lose the chance. Having no other options, I closed my eyes and intently focused on maintaining awareness and not falling into the mindless dream. When I reopened my eyes, the school had become a pale shadow of what it had been before - the colored hallways and classes and their people within had all vanished and were replaced with a plain white. Everything from floor to ceiling was white, though the structure of the school still remained. Realizing that I had made it into lucidity, I shouted joyfully (the words, I don't recall) and began to run. At this point, the lucidity faded a bit, and I guess it is because of my inexperience, but that lucid dream became a half-lucid in which I was somewhat conscious and somewhat not. The reason I say this is because while I could think as if I were awake, the sights and other senses I had are dulled, to where I focused on the idea of the action I was performing rather than all the visuals. Regardless, I figured I should try to do something, so I tried my hand at flight. Despite my efforts, I failed, but then I noticed a baseball had appeared next to me, so I decided to try to move it without physical methods. I focused on the baseball with my mind as if I were moving it, but without actually pushing on it. Sure enough, the baseball began to move as I imagined it should, but oddly numbers appeared above the baseball designating its velocity, because when I "pushed" the ball faster the numbers increased. With this feat of telekinesis complete, I decided to try and apply the same theory to myself to see if I could fly. Sadly, the dream began to visibly fade, and instinctively I started to spin as fast as I could, but for a moment everything went black, and I feared that I had lost everything. I somewhat lost, because a less lucid and more dreamlike event occurred next. Akin to a loading screen in a game, a "loading bar" appeared on top of the black screen in my mind, with words similar to "Loading Lucid Dream", and the bar filled itself quite quickly. When the bar was complete, I returned to a lucid world, but this one was clearly dream influenced. It was a childish world, with everything cartoonish and fluffy sheep and the such everywhere. Though this setting beckoned me to relive my days as a toddler or something, I was intent on flight, and I applied the telekinetic method on myself and began to soar high above the ground. I had a feeling that the world was going to end soon, so I decided to try one more thing. It has been a pseudo-goal of mine to see the Himalaya Mountains in my dreams, but in this cartoonish world they wouldn't be their majestic self. Regardless, I tried anyway by focusing on the thought of the mountains. All of a sudden, I was high in the sky over an immensely large mountain range, but they were rocky; they had no snow on the top. This wasn't what I had in mind, so I tried one last time to warp them to my will; but I'll never know if it worked or not. In my mind's eye, the snowy mountains were there, but my body's eye told me I was looking at the bunched up bed sheets I was laying on as I slept on the floor. Looking at the sheets, they looked exactly like a mountain range in the dark room, but my head saw them as the Himalayas. I'm not sure if I just made it up or if they really were there for a moment. I instantly got up and ran upstairs to find a notebook and records all of this.

It was really amazing for me to try out so many things in my first lucid dream. Telekinesis, flight, and location-warping, as well as lucid dream defense methods, such as spinning and focus. Whenever I am lucky enough to have another lucid dream, I will focus on self-awareness by trying to see my own hands in front of me and by using strategies such as "Clarity now!" as I have seen suggested on the forum. Then I'll try to do a simple math problems to see if my awareness is really working.

So, for future references: Need a lucid dream? Sleep in a hurricane!
