      Dancing Under the Stars

      Wednesday 14th April 2010

This was the best lucid dream I've had so far in my life.

I went to bed at 10:30pm and awoke at 6am (7.5 hours sleep) disappointed not to have got lucid. I thought I'd had too much sleep for a WBTB but tried one anyway. I set my alarm for 8:30pm as I was due at work at 10am. After a while I found myself starting to feel sleepy and I drifted off.

Next thing I knew I was having the most realistic false awakening I've ever had. I “awoke” in my bed with my sleep mask on. It felt 100% real. Sometimes FAs can feel dreamy but this one felt completely real. I was annoyed that I hadn't had a LD and in fact had no dream recall at all. I lifted my mask off my face. The room was dark. I looked at my digital clock and it read 9:47! Immediately I thought 'oh no, I'm due at work at ten!' I did however think this was a more than a bit odd because I knew for certain I had set my alarm for 8:30. I decided to do a reality test rather than jumping straight on the phone to call work, just in case I was dreaming. I pressed the button on my LED watch. Nothing happened. I found this very suspicious. I pushed the button again. Still nothing. I looked back at the digital clock and saw that it now read 7.47. There was also a second digital clock on my dressing table which read 6:52. I didn't notice the fact that this was a second digital clock which I didn't own but I did notice that the times were different. I looked away and back again and the second clock had changed to 6:56. I was now certain it was a dream.

I immediately got out of bed and walked out of my bedroom and onto the landing at the top of the stairs. I stood for a second deciding what to do. I noticed that the light was on downstairs and I could hear the stereo in the lounge playing the song 'Chasing Cars' by Snow Patrol. I could sense my brother was down there. Quickly I walked down the stairs calling out his name. I got to the bottom of the stairs and turned the corner to go into the lounge. He was standing right around the corner looking a lot younger and very happy. My mother and sister were in the background in the lounge. I looked above him and saw the ceiling had repeating pattened wallpaper all over it. The pattern was a big fat postman in a blue uniform with a red cap. The detail was remarkable.

I then grabbed both of D's hands in mine and had a conversation with him which I am keeping private. I got to say some things that I desperately wanted to say. I then hugged him and we started dancing, swaying from side to side to Chasing Cars, which was still playing beautifully. We were traveling across the lounge as we danced and as we passed my mum and sister I asked mum "where are we?" which was the goal of one of my lucid dreaming friends. My mum didn't answer.

I turned my attention back to my brother and as we rocked gently from side to side I could feel his heartbeat against my chest. It was amazing, beautiful and so real. It was comforting and nice to feel it. He then led me out through the doors to the porch outside. It was still night time. We looked up at the stars. The sky looked normal. There were a few clouds but it was mainly clear. I could see lots of stars including the Orion's Belt constellation. I looked for the Southern Cross since that is significant to me, but couldn't see it. Then I woke up.

      All that I am
      All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes
      They're all I can see...

Congratulations! That sounded like such a nice dream. Good job beating the FA.

I wish I was so good at summoning people.

I don't think I summoned him, Caradon. I could just sense he was there as if that was meant to happen in the dream. But yeah, I am getting slightly better.

Thanks flashdance. Nice to see you too

      Flying Car

      Saturday 17th April 2010

I had been dreaming nonlucidly for quite a while. But the first I can remember is I'm sitting in my car with mum in the passenger seat outside Westgate shopping mall. I've come out to my car to try and WILD. I ask mum if she has remembered to bring her book to read while I attempt my WILD. She says she's forgotten it. I'm annoyed at this as it means I'm not going to be able to WILD with her just sitting in the car doing nothing for what could be a couple of hours, so I say “well let's just go home and call it a day then”. She replies “okay but when we get home I want to check my Gerberas” (Gerberas are a type of flower, but god knows where that came from coz my mum doesn't own Gerberas IRL).

I start the car and begin driving through the carpark. I go around a round-a-bout and notice my driving is a bit erratic and I don't have the best control of the car. I'm still feeling slightly annoyed and I put my foot down hard on the accelerator. The car speeds up and suddenly it takes off into the air. With elation I realise I'm dreaming. As the car climbs higher I turn to mum and thinking she's my real mum in the dream with me I exclaim “Mum we're dreaming! We must have both fallen asleep in the car back at the mall.” I notice my mum closes her eyes so I say “Don't close your eyes! Look around! We're flying!” The car is now a convertible and I have a lovely view of the houses and streets far below us. It's amazing and such a clear and vivid dreamscape. I'm amazed at how my mind can produce such an experience.

I then decide to jump out of the car. I decide I should do a reality test first, just in case. I look at my wrist but my watch isn't there. I really want to jump but I need to completely confirm I'm dreaming first. I'm tempted just to go for it but am thinking how if I'm wrong I will surely die. I start trying to put my hand through the door of the car but I wake up.

I recorded my dream then went back to sleep and had a really long dream during which I was back at the mall and I saw a ridiculous number of dream signs but the whole time I wasn't wearing my watch so felt I couldn't do a reality test until I got home to where I'd left my watch. I tried to fly at one point but it was a lame effort because I thought I was truly awake. At one point I was with Caradon telling him how I'd had a cool flying dream like he has. It was absolutely crazy how many dreamsigns I bypassed!

Hi! I was browsing the net because a friend said something about a dream with aliens in it and she was trying to find the meaning - I ended up on this site, read about lucid dreams and got really interested in it.
Anyway, I signed up and ended up reading your journal for some reason. I read ALL of it (omg yes all of it I have no life at all <.< ) and it really made me want to practice lucid dreaming. :3
I love the way you write (I'm a writer myself) and I'm really looking forward to reading more of your dreams!

Linkelynxy, to DV and to Lucid Dreaming! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my journal and for providing me with that feedback. It is fantastic to know that I have inspired somebody so. If you would like some help I'd be only too happy to assist you with your lucid journey. Discovering lucid dreaming is one of the most amazing things that has ever happened to me and I love helping people with lucidity. I will send you a PM shortly, but first I must quickly catch up on my journal and then go to the gym...

Lucid The Same Way As My Husband

      Sunday 18th April 2010

Last night I got lucid to the exact same dreamsign my husband got lucid to a few nights prior. The dream itself is barely worth counting, however in my early days I definitely would have counted this and so I am continuing with my rule of documenting every time I achieve lucidity.

My husband is not a lucid dreamer. He had only ever had two short lucids (three since this latest one) and has never done a reality test in his life. However a few mornings ago upon awakening he told me he'd had a lucid dream. He'd dreamed he'd gone to work at the warehouse and when he walked in all the pallet racking (shelving) had completely disappeared and the warehouse was empty. He figured he might be dreaming and so looked at his wrist (this is so cute since it's my standard reality test). He never wears a watch but there was an analogue watch on his wrist so he knew that he was indeed dreaming. He then flew for a bit before awakening.

I thought that was a cool way to get lucid and wished it had happened to me. Then I thought no more about it until last night I was dreaming about being at work. I walked through to the Sterile Supply room and lo and behold all the shelving had disappeared! Immediately I knew I was dreaming. There was a horrible nurse behind me and so I quickly said to her “they're doing major renovations in here by the way” as I didn't want her to realise it was a dream. Having her know would take away my advantage! Unfortunately I have very poor memory of this lucid dream. I don't even know how long I was lucid for. I just know I went into a new dream still semi-lucid but I can't remember that either.

      Most Pathetic Lucid Ever!

      Monday 19th April 2010

Well I've now had my best lucid, my clearest lucid, and my most pathetic lucid ever all within a week of each other.

I had been dreaming nonlucidly about a whole lot of kids turning up at the house wanting to show us their pantomime costumes. They had a couple of Rottweilers with them and they all run into the house. My mum started crying because she didn't have her camera with her to take photos. I told her to calm down and that I'd take some on my camera. I went and got my pocket camera and tried to take pictures but it wasn't working out very well. The kids wouldn't even look at the camera and I was getting frustrated.

Next thing I'm out on the street and it's dark. I see a black cat on the road. I'm thinking about the commotion which has just occurred and thinking it was all a bit ridiculous and that I'm probably dreaming. I press the button on my watch and sure enough it doesn't work properly. I do this a couple more times fascinated by it. It's really dark and I can barely see anything and I can't think what to do so I go over to my car, get in, start the engine and start manouevering the car with the idea that I'm going to drive to somewhere more exciting – what an idiot. I wake up.

Mystical Amusement Parlour & The Wormhole

      Wednesday 21st April 2010

HOLY WOW!!! Following my most pathetic lucid ever I have just had the most incredible lucid dream in my entire life! Okay, to be fair, no dream will ever beat my 'Dancing Under The Stars' dream simply because of the emotion I experienced in that one, but this dream certainly equalled it. I am still in a state of shock and awe at what I've just experienced. There was a part in it that was without a doubt the strangest lucid experience I've ever had. But without further adieu I shall get on with the story...

I went to bed at midnight and awoke just after 7am with astounding dream recall. Normally I would have thought I'd had too much sleep, and that I'd done all my dreaming, but I knew that recently I'd had the 'Dancing Under The Stars' dream which was the best lucid in my life and that had come after seven and a half hours sleep. So I did a WBTB...

While I was up I had a quick look at my online dream journal and was extremely happy to see that my journal had profoundly affected a new member (Linkelynxy) so much that she signed up to the forum and read my ENTIRE journal. I then had to wait for my husband to leave for work and I was getting anxious that I was staying up too long. What was worse was after he left he returned having left his mobile phone behind. Gah! So I definitely experienced some emotion while I was up.

I then got back into bed and attempted WILD/MILD. After a while I got the call of nature! Gah! So up I got, and attended to that. (TMI I know, but it's all part of the story!) I nearly didn't bother going back to bed afterwards, but luckily I did...

Again I attempted WILD/MILD. I was trying to WILD by imagining myself walking up an old dark wooden staircase. I then went off to sleep still on my back and dreamed nonlucidly for a while. I was in a large house at a party similar to the one I'd pictured around my staircase. My husband was changing a lightbulb and he was up on a chair. He was being silly and was all wobbly and I told him sternly to focus on what he was doing as this was how accidents happen. The dream continued for a while before fading away. I lost consciousness.

Then I felt myself drift back into consciousness and a new dream incubated around me. It's hard to describe because it felt just like a WILD as the dream went from merely being a thought to being a fully formed scene around me. I was walking along a hallway in a different house. There was nobody else around. I was completely lucid and everything was incredibly clear. I thought 'brilliant! My efforts have worked! I'm lucid!' I walked around exploring this house for about thirty seconds fully lucid. It wasn't quite as clear as my recent dream ('The Clearest Lucid in my Life') and I was hoping it would continue to clarify as I walked around. Then the weirdest thing happened...

The house dream ended and I was back lying in my bed. After a second or two I felt the sensation of falling forward slightly. It was an incredibly realistic sensation of motion. I hovered in this forward position for a few seconds and then all of a sudden I dropped through my mattress and was falling downwards. I was in a tunnel. It was dark but I could see blueish electricity at the end of the tunnel. I kept falling down down down. The sensation was incredible and powerfully realistic. It was as though I was being sucked through a wormhole in space. This continued for absolutely ages and I thought to myself 'this is so so weird! It must be SP. I'm probably going to wake up any second now. I wonder if I'll get vibrations. Jeez I wonder what's going on. I wonder if I might actually be dying? Hmmm, probably not. The chances of that are pretty slim.' After about a full minute of falling down this wormhole I decided to experiment. I began lifting my right arm, which was by my side. I lifted it ninety degrees and pointed my finger towards the end of the tunnel. As soon as I did this the motion completely stopped and some figures appeared in the tunnel up ahead.

I stayed in this state for a short time but my vision had clouded over and it was hard to make anything out. I struggled to focus but sensory input was minimal. And then...

I found myself in a completely new dream. I was standing in an amusement parlour. It was absolutely fantastic. A really cool dreamscape. It was in the basement of a building and there was an escalator leading up. There were interesting things all around. I stood there for a second thinking excitedly 'this is so cool!' and deciding what to do. Part of me really wanted to go up the escalator to see what was up there. However I knew I'd be gutted if I woke up halfway up the escalator. I'd rather have gone and played with at least one of the attractions.

I could see a square shaped pool of water with toy animals floating on it. The water was swirling a little and it piqued my interest. I walked over to it and put my hands into the water to see how it felt. Disappointingly, my hands felt kind of numb in the water. I didn't get a realistic sensation at all. I thought about a dream I'd read online by twoshadows and how she'd had a cool water experience with a sprinkler. There were some cardboard frogs floating on the water and I reached out and deliberately crushed one in my hand. OUCH! The cardboard dug into my hand really hard and hurt. I was very surprised to feel pain in a lucid dream. I somehow sensed that I had disrespected the dreamscape by damaging this display and that the dream had 'bitten me' as if to say “watch it”.

I then decided to go up the escalator otherwise I might wake up and I'd forever wonder what was up there. I went over and stepped on. It was slightly narrower than waking world escalators. I traveled up to the top and there were more amusements up there. Directly in front of me were some Dodgem Cars. 'Cool' I thought. I wandered past them and came to the edge of the Amusement Parlour. It opened up onto a field. I wandered onto the field a little way. There were daisies growing and the sun was shining. Oh what a wondrous place is Dreamland! Then I decided to go back to the Amusement Parlour since it was one of the coolest places I'd been lucid in.

I walked back inside and some movement to the left caught my eye. I saw two people standing by one of the rides. They were wearing parker jackets with the hoods up. The taller one had on a grey parker and he turned and started and walking towards me. I couldn't yet see his face but I willed it to be my brother D. I succeeded. The figure reached up and pulled down his hood and I could see it was my lovely D. “Hi” I called. He said hello back. I told him I loved him. I then made myself really look intently at his face (a goal). It was amazingly clear and realistic. I then said “shall we go and have some fun?” He said yes. We started wandering.

I noticed an old record player on one of the stands and walked over to it. There was a record on it but it was not an ordinary record. It had a lenticular picture on it. (A lenticular picture is one of those pictures that has plastic over the top causing it to change when you look at it from a different angle). I was absolutely blown away by the detail on it. It was a portrait of a witch in an overgrown moonlit graveyard. She was wearing a purple hooded robe. I picked it up and tilted it, and it changed. The witch moved and the moon appeared from behind a cloud. I was amazed by how well my brain created this intricate object. I tilted it back and forward a few times and watched it flip between the two pictures.

I put it down and walked on a little more but then awoke. Needless to say I was on the biggest post-lucid high ever!

I love how you keep saying 'this was my best LD so far!'
Does that mean they get more and more awesome when you practice more?
(And some help would be lovely! I started my dream journal and I'm counting my fingers all the time to check if it's not a dream, but lucidity hasn't even been mentioned in my dreams yet. It's all little guys with blue hair and people trying to take pictures of me for a commercial o.O )
(Also, sorry if my English is a bit messed up :/ I'm Dutch so my grammar/spelling might be a bit wacky.)

Pretty much! My LDing just keeps getting better and better. I only wish I could do a WBTB (wake back to bed) right now as I have just woken up with the most incredible recall I've ever had, but sadly I have to go to work

I was looking for your dream journal and I saw your post about the floating shapes. It sounds like hypnagogic imagery. Well done for deciding not to be afraid. There are some strange and weird things a lucid dreamer can experience, but not one thing is to be feared.

I will PM you when I get home from work. Let's get you having lucids huh!

      Epic Adventure

This is barely countable. However, it was pretty cool to get lucid, as is always. So I'm counting it.

My recall at the moment is better than I've ever experienced and my dreams are just amazing. I'm waking during the night and early in the morning with immense dream recall. The dream I had this morning was unlike any other nonlucid dream I've had. It was stupidly long, ridiculously vivid, and set amongst amazing scenery. I didn't get lucid until the very end but even if I hadn't got lucid I would still include this dream in my journal. The nonlucid part of this dream went on for about half an hour.

I'm in a shop overseas with my husband C. I find a whole lot of lenticular rulers. They're quite expensive so I decide to just purchase a few for my collection. I start sorting through them. I have never had a nonlucid dream be so vivid. It was utterly insane. The detail in the pictures on all these rulers was so clear and intricate. The flip action worked perfectly too. I put aside some of the more boring ones and kept the better ones, including a Snoopy one. It would have been incredible to have become lucid at this point, especially since I had so much dreaming left to do.

C leaves to go up the road for a business meeting. He is carrying a whole lot of stuff on a backpack. Then my sister R is with me in the shop and a guy is facing us talking to us. Although he doesn't look like anyone from my waking life, I have the knowledge that he is greatly loved by my sister and me. Suddenly he is shot in front of us. He collapses and we see the assassin standing right behind him. We escape out of the shop. I now realise it is my sister's husband who was killed.

I develop this awareness that this is really only a movie and he's going to come back to life. But my sister is devastated. She wanders off towards the edge of a lake with her five year old daughter. I follow her. We are in the middle of nowhere. We pass a single large white house on the shore of the lake. A man is sitting on a chair on the porch reading a newspaper. He sees us and nods and smiles at me as we pass. I'm concerned we might be confronted by a dog as it's likely the home owners would own one. We pass the back of the house and I see a weird rabbit-like creature scuttle pass. I also see a German Shepherd dog.

I carry on following my sister. We enter a huge factory with vast empty spaces inside. R picks up some balls and throws them at me one at a time. I catch them perfectly. The dream is just so incredibly vivid. R starts telling me that if I hadn't dallied around looking at the rulers in the shop then her husband would still be alive. There's all these weird cartoon characters around – mannequins with costumes. Then we go outside because apparently her husband is trying to communicate with us via satellite. I see a red light in the sky.

We wander on and into a house. My sister is no longer there. In the house is a middle aged couple and my parents. The middle aged woman is sitting in front of a huge computer monitor on a desk. The picture on it is so clear. As I walk past the monitor it follows me, turning to face me. I'm quite impressed by the technology. Then it starts swinging wildly from left to right and the woman says it's not working properly. I sit down at a table with mum and dad and the middle aged man starts telling us that the police are going to charge my late brother with being a slow learning pilot.

This makes me very angry and upset. I immediately say in a really angry voice, “That's ridiculous! Nobody gets charged after they're dead with being a slow learning pilot! I'm doing a reality test!” I look at my watch and press the button. The numbers don't look quite right. My mum and dad start touching me in an empathetic way and I get the feeling they're trying to divert my attention from what they see as eccentric behaviour. But I'm starting to realise I'm dreaming. I push them away saying “get your hands off me” and stand up and walk across the table to get away from them so I can continue reality testing unaccosted. I see the numbers aren't right and am enormously relieved to realise I'm dreaming. I immediately contemplate the situation since I'm still feeling a strong and mixed emotion of sadness and anger. I realise that when I awake my brother will still be deceased but that at least this means my sister's husband won't be. I wake up.

      What Am I Wearing?

      Saturday 24th April 2010

My lucid goal was to note what I was wearing and if it was something I really owned then to wear it the following day, and if it was not something I owned to go and buy something as similar as possible and wear it.

I went to bed at about 10pm and woke up at 5am so did a short WBTB. I dreamed nonlucidly for a short time then woke up and went back to sleep and into another nonlucid dream.

I dreamed I was driving to work and I found myself driving along the sidewalk. I thought that this was rather careless of me and managed to get back down the kerb onto the road again. I turned into the driveway at work. Next thing I had parked my car and was running along the driveway. Suddenly I had the thought 'why am I running? This is nuts. This is crazy, dreamlike behaviour. I'd better do a reality test just to be sure'. Before I could do one though I suddenly remembered that I'd been WILDing recently and I realised that I had no memory of anything since then so I must be dreaming! I decided to do a reality test anyway just to confirm it. I pushed the button on my LED watch. The time came up normally which annoyed me as I knew I was dreaming but just wanted complete confirmation. Then the numbers went a bit funny so it was now confirmed.

I immediately remembered my first lucid goal which was simply to look at what I was wearing. I did this. I was wearing strange grey trousers and a grey jacket neither of which I own in waking life. I lifted my jacket to see what was underneath. I was wearing a pink checked shirt that I do own in waking life but which I haven't worn for a long time. I then remembered my next goal which was to find a mirror. I looked around and saw some public toilets only a few metres away. I headed towards them knowing there'd be a mirror inside. The door had no handle so I just walked straight through but as soon as I got inside my vision faded. I didn't manage to preserve the dream and awoke.

When I awoke I went and dug the pink checkered shirt out of my drawer and I plan to wear it today.

Haven't had a lucid dream in 3 years, and I'm looking to get back into it.

      Butterfly Garden

      Tuesday 27th April 2010

I dreamed nonlucidly with great recall throughout the night. After a WBTB I dreamed nonlucidly a long and rather confusing dream. Then finally the dreamscene changed and I found myself on a gently sloping hillside. The sky was blue and it was a bright summer's day. I started thinking about what had been happening and realised I'd been dreaming and that I was still dreaming.

I walked around the garden looking at some beautiful flowers on bushes. There were butterflies on the flowers. There was a female DC sort of following me and for some reason I had it in my head that I needed to wait for the dream to form completely before letting myself become completely lucid I then decided that even though I was currently in a nonlucid dream I could still do something fun while I waited to become lucid. I decided to fly. I turned and faced downhill, took a few steps down the hill to get up a little momentum, and then launched gently into the air with my arms out to the sides and willing myself to be weightless. It was such a delightfully thrilling feeling and wonderfully realistic. I floated up high above the hill. I saw a huge hexagon shaped clothes line and landed in the middle of it. I awoke.

Wow I've missed a lot in here. I'll try and catch up soon. I just read the last one. Good stuff, I miss flying. I'm trying to get it back together.

      Thanks Caradon

Well how bloody annoying is this? Last night I was really tired and ended up sleeping for nine hours straight. I did come annoyingly close to getting lucid at one stage dreaming that I'd arrived at work three hours early and was going to have to sit and wait for my shift to start without even having brought a book to read. I started wondering what the hell I'd been thinking coming so early and wished I had stayed at home and attempted a WILD. Then I had a FA which I didn't pick up on but should have since the telephone wire had been unplugged and was strewn in a tangled fashion across my bedroom floor.

But that's not the annoying part; When I finally awoke, my husband, who had awoken earlier, came in to the bedroom and said "I had a lucid dream". Gah! He's never done a reality test in his life!

His dream was pretty awesome too and involved flying and trying to have sex with a female DC - which he didn't achieve. (Good job!!!)

I hate it when it's so obvious that it's a dream and you STILL don't realise it <_< I mean, I had this dream about a giant cake once. And then it was gone because apparently it was too expensive, but luckily they brought in a little chocolate cake and poured strawberry syrup over it o.O
I have no idea why I didn't do a reality check.

Anyway, congrats to your husband on having a lucid dream xD how many has he had so far? ;o

      Smile Lucid Sex Dream

Thanks, Linkelynxy - he's now had four lucids

I took a week off lucid dreaming as I wanted to catch up on some good solid sleep. This morning however I woke up at around 7am and was still sleepy and decided to attempt WILD.

I had an awesome lucid sex dream. I was in a hotel elevator and a really hot blond-haired guy got in. I managed to control the story of the dream with reasonable success. I'm keeping the details private but we ended up in a hotel room. A while later (details omitted) he went and got into the shower and I walked out onto the balcony and found myself in a shopping mall. I wandered into a shop. There were a whole lot of TVs in there. I did the nose pinch test which I've been wanting to try again in a dream since I haven't done it for about a year! I'd forgotten how weird it is to be able to breathe with my nose pinched. I remembered my lucid goal to find a mirror. I looked around and saw some cosmetic mirrors on a shelf but then I woke up.
