      Problem

I am usually good at dream recall, but last night I repeated to myself "I will remember my dreams,etc..." and when I woke up I remembered nothing. After a while I remembered a fragment but nothing else. What should I do?
      Life is but a dream....

uhh...wait 'till the next morning? heh, maybe it was just a bad coincidence that you actually tried and failed instead of the usual. I don't know, trying to jumpstart the topic, I guess.

Simone93, we've all had mornings where we could only remember fragments or nothing at all.

I wouldn't stress out about it. Just keep trying... your recall will come back.

Yes, it's nothing to worry about, just relax and say to yourself that tomorrow you'll recall twice as much dreams as you normally do.
Sometimes I find myself not remembering my dreams too, when i try too much. Then I just relax and let the dreams come back to me as they came during the night.
Helps for me, hope it'll help for You also.
And, (haven't checked if it works but it should), you might try to read your dream diary to see if anything comes back to you via repeated dream signs, characters etc.
I usually recall about one dream per day which i forgot during the night, when I watch TV or go out and see the thing I saw in my dream. Then it instantly flashes back to me that I saw it in a dream.

You may also want to try reading some info about dreaming or lucid dreaming right before you fall asleep. Whenever I do this, I'm always in the frame of mind to fall asleep and remember my dreams more clearly. And I can usually remember more per night.

A very effective means of assuring improved dream recall is to threaten to slap your arm or leg so hard that it will make you wince in pain, IF you do not only remember your dreams, but even if you don't find the dreams particularly interesting.

I once used the negative reinforcement method -- beating my left hand, that is, in order to get my left hand to be as good as my right, when I had learned juggling when I was still quite young. If my left hand messed up a trick, I would give it a good painful beating. It seemed to work well enough... outside of leading with my right hand, people could no longer tell which was my dominant hand after awhile. And so I suggested the same technique for improving Dream Recall, and I've been surprised that so many people have found Negative Reinforcement -- beating themselves for not remembering, to be so very effective.

It turns out that the Subconscious mind has an interested link with the physical body and does not enjoy pain, and will make certain efforts to avoid pain that is not entirely necessary. If it is a choice between pain and remembering a few interesting dreams, then the Subconscious will whip up a few interesting dreams and see to it that you remember them.

      Now that is fascinating!
