I just discovered my dream sign..(I think?)

I'm a beginner at lucid dreaming, and after a brief break from my efforts, i have just regained my dream recall. I've been recording my dreams for about a month now and i'm satisfied with my progress so far. After looking at these dreams again I noticed something I feel can be very special for me. I noticed a recurring character that I think i could focus on in the dream world, and become lucid.
I'ts an old dog of mine that has recently passed.
BUT, i do think that this is the best sign i could of been naturally given because me knowing he has passed, there is no way he could be back in the waking life, therefore giving me lucidity! Also, i get a nice meeting with him again, in the closest thing i could get to real life, which is awesome!

I'm hoping I see him soon and a flame of lucidity is set, so i can play with him again. Will be posting results as well

This happened to me for a sure while after my dog died, then the effect wore off.
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

ahh that is so touching Daydreamer518 .. I'm close to tearing up. While I don't mean to sound rude when I say this but that is absolutely fantastic! If you truly believe focusing on the dog will bring you lucidity then it actually will It's beautiful really; A pet that has left the world of the living, returns to greet his master in the land of dreams. The pet becomes the masters anchor - The pet walks happily beside his master as he guides him through the gateway of lucidity. Together, their friendship knows no bounds and they have one adventure after another. That is until the master leaves the land of dreams - He has business to attend to and the pet understands that whole heartily. So the pet sits and waits for his master to notice him once again.

You wouldn't forget to notice him Daydream, would you?

Not sure if you are a lucid dreamer yet, but would say to not limit yourself to one sign. I started out with just one but now lots of recurring signs are working for me. The more you LD the better your awareness gets. But you still have to intend to have them...they dont often come to me without me desiring to have one. If I get busy with life and dont focus on the goal I dont have them.

      Thanks for the replies!
Moocowgoesmoo; I've had 2 lucid dreams in my efforts, and both times I saw the dog, and it was immediate lucidity. I don't consider these really lucid dreams because they were short lived, although I am proud of my accomplishments. Last night though was the first time I dreamed about him, and didn't become lucid! I feel if my recall, and familiarity with the dream world was better, I would of became lucid. :/ I'm going to keep at it though!

Rothgar: Not really experienced so the input really helps! I've only found one dream character (that I can notice) but could it be possible that a certain emotion and mood around me could trigger it? I always have intense, action packed dreams, which is to my liking but maybe i could focus on the mood rather than a specific character?
      I don't know maybe

      thanks for the help

As you experience more LDs you will start having spontaneously triggered lucids, and I think these can be feeling or mood related. But dream signs remain important. And not just certain characters. For me I have triggered on nasty looking bathrooms, fear of heights, floating objects, shoes changing colors, strangers in my house, serious but painless lascerations, injured loved ones, and various recurring signs. Heck, I have had dream characters tell me I was dreaming. But, let me also say most times your awareness in dreams is just too low to go lucid, so you need to practice WBTB or other techniques to elevate awareness.
