What is a good technique for finding dream signs.

I have about 16-18 dreams recorded in my dream jounral right now, and im wondering how i should look for dream signs. what should i try to find. Most of my dreams have nothing similer accept the fact that they revolve around the things i do in real life(i go to park in real life, i have a dream about a park) Anyway i have been trying to perfect my dream recall by recalling my entire day backwards before i go to sleep and then reaffirming myself "that i will remember my dream when i wake up and write it down in my dream journal" Is there anything else i should remmeber. Right now im just looking for some more methods.

Now that's interesting because I just discovered my dream sign. Try to find something in your dream that's too good to be true in real life that would never happen... hopefully it'll happen all the time in your dream (either the situation, object or person). For me, it's a person.. this person appears in my dreams a lot and I started thinking maybe it was just wish fullfillment but the other day when I woke up EURIKA!! I came to the discover that every time this person enters my dream I know I'm dreaming therefore I can become lucid!

Now, if this person will only appear back into my dreams again (since discovering this it sort of ended... strange huh). But I'm hopeful because I know the next time this person makes an appearance, I will be able to become lucid very easily!

      Good luck

dont really work for me... I know at least a dozen of my dreamsigns, yet I'm just so involved in a dream, that I ignore them.

I've discovered an interesting thing tho - few times in a dream, I have a "flashes of awareness" - I become aware that something is wrong.. It lasts just a couple of seconds, and usually I just examine the dreamworld, but never become lucid...

I guess it can be used to perform general reality check or something..

      Ok thanks

Well i guise i have few dreamsigns then, I seem to have a lot of dreams about my xbox and me being in weird places with my xbox. I also seem to have many dreams where i am dizzy(where i am so dizzy that it is impossible to stand up) and when i get partially paralized and i keep trying to act normal and not be dizzy and paralized but i cant. Also many of my dreams revolve around what i do in the daytime of the day of the dream. And once i find the dreamsign that i see the most i look for it in my dreams?

I get the dizzy thing a lot too, with me its vertigo. I dream a lot about high places and being so scared that i cannot stand up or move.

I have the problem of not really having a dream sign too, all my dreams are so varied that i never seem to be able to pic out anything that recurres in any of them.

And ive just read my post back and realised that the last two paragraphs totally contradicted each other...heheh oh well.

If you have occurances in your waking life that our reocurring you could try to do reality checks each time that you do them instead of using your dream journal for clues.

I have a very distinct and somewhat usual dream sign that I'm pretty lucky to have: all of the liquids in my dreams change colors.

I get that paralyzed thing quite often, and I know a lot of other people that do too. I wonder if that's the most common dream sign.

Maybe we could set up a poll!

Since keeping a dream journal, I have discovered that I have a lot of very common dreamsigns. I use Idx log to record my dreams to I can just put in a search for a word and see how many dreams Ive had that have that word in (like 'insects' or 'police') you might be suprised by how many recurring things you have in your dreams.

The lucid i had the other night was the first one I ever achieved jst by recognising a dreamsign...an if you read my earlier post on this thread, I thought that I didnt have one at all.

I really reccommend recording details down in your dream journal, and after about of a month of recording, look through and note PARTICULAR, DISTINCT themes, items, problems, and people...etc...

Write them down, and every day you see them in waking life, perform a reality check.

A couple of my dreamsigns are common everyday things. One of them is visiting with my parents. I see them once every couple of weeks or so, but it is extremely common for me to dream about being in their house or be hanging out in my old neighborhood, which is really strange since I have not lived there for 20 years!

All my dreams are abstract, so the closest thing to a dreamsign I have is when anything normal happens. Like last night, I drempt I was looking at newspapers, they all had names like shawibble or dinglomom, then I saw the sun newspaper, and I went lucid.

keep up with the dream journal

My reccomendation is keep up with your dream journal. The more specific you get with your descriptions, the more specific things you'll start to notice in your dreams, which will hopefully give you some sort of dream sign and your chance for a decent LD.

A good way to create a dream sign is to watch a movie that you like or a tv show. During the show ask your self many times am I dremaing or say I am dreaming.

When your mind eventually makes this a dream sign you will associate it with dreaming and hopefully become lucid.
