      Bettering my dream recall

Well, I began my dream journal 2 nights ago, and each night I have had a dream that I can barely remember well enough to write down in the morning, with very tiny bits and pieces of other dreams that I dont bother writing down because theres usually no dream signs in them. However, any dreams that I do have in the morning feel very far and distant, and this morning my second entry may have been even more far and distant than the night before. Is there anything I can do to improve my dream recall, or does it just take time?
Also, the only dreams ive had so far have been about smoking pot, which is strange, because I DONT smoke pot. should I consider this one of my dream signs?

I highly recommend that you write down everything you can remember, no matter how insignificant it may seem. Just the act of writing will often trigger more detailed memories of the dream, or of another dream entirely.

Mostly it takes time, but it also helps greatly to have confidence. If you go to bed thinking "I hope I won't forget my dreams", you probably will forget them. You should go to bed thinking "I will remember my dreams" -- and really believe it!

      It certainly sounds that way.

      Heres somthing interesting.
I woke up this morning and was pretty irritated because I couldnt remember any dream that I had had during the night, so i left my dream journal blank. However, I got to work and had been doing my work when all of a sudden I remembered part of a dream from last night, no where near my journal. Bummer. This ever happen to anyone else?

plenty of times. I hear that you should lay in bed for a bit and think about dreaming to remember anything you didnt pick up on immediatly. Everything you dream going into the dream journal reaps rewards.
