      Trouble remembering much of dreams...

Okay, so I've been working at this off and on for 2 years, but very lightly in those earlier years until now. I think I started up again maybe 5 days ago? (My dream recall from those earlier years was decent, but not nearly as good as it is now)

Anyways, last night I just remembered 4-5 different dreams, (one kind of counts but was very very short). The night before I remembered 3, the night before that I also remembered 3, etc.. the point is, all of the dreams I can remember are like 1-5 minutes long... its always very short points of the dreams, however I can remember specific details during those parts.

I always tell myself before going to bed I will remember all of my dreams, and I will wake up after every dream. (going to work on becoming lucid a bit later, once my dream recall is stronger)

Is this something that just slowly comes over time? Remembering more and more of your dreams? Or is this something you actually learn as well?

For me, it varies. I usually remember a couple of long epic type dreams a night and a whole bunch of fragments.

The problem my not be in your remembering. It could be that you are just having small fragmented dreams right now.

How comfortable is your bed? I've heard that everytime you shift, it changes the content of the dream.

My wife has told me on several occasions that she has checked to see if I'm still alive. It is on those nights that I have increadibly vivid and long dreams.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

my beds decently comfortable.. however im one of those people that shift around a lot while i sleep.. obviously that may just give me lots of fragmented dreams? But what if I were to become lucid during one of those dreams? Would my settings just magically change when my body were to shift or something?

Whenever I remember a dream, it always feels like its 10 to 30 mins long. When I write it down however its a few lines, then it suddenly seems like not much has happened... maybee I should start keeping my journal again... ive been slacking a bit

They could shift, or you could begin to lose lucidity. Remember to spin if this happens.

Try this method and see if it works.

Go to sleep LATE, so you are tired. When the sun rises, get up. (Or set the alarm to wake you if you are not one of those people that wake with sunlight)

Try to write down what you remember from the night. Don't worry if its really hard to concentrate, you are half asleep after all.

      Close your curtains.

Go back to bed and do a MILD or WILD. Sleep until you have to get up again. I find ~45 min - 1 hour works well.

You're mind should spend all that last bit of time dreaming. Giving you vivid, easy to remember, and long dreams.

I have had 5 consecutive successes over the past 5 days with this method. Getting an 30 min+ dream everytime.

Sometimes, trying to remember my dreams becomes a futile attempt.

I just gotta lay down and not think for a while. The dream fragments usually come by right before I'm about to give up and start my day. It's really spontaneous. After waking up, we are significantly in less touch with our subconcious. But the first couple minutes of a waking day are sort of like a transition period.
