I've been experimenting off and on will LD'ing for the past few months, but never consistantly, and therefor my recall is less then par. I usually only remember small fragments of dreams from the night before, and my recall used to be better, if not much. I think stress might be contributing to this... what should i do to help my recall and lower stress levels caused by school and work and what not?

Stress can play a huge role in problems with recall and lucidity. Have you ever tried meditation or other stress-reducing activities? Also, make sure you are getting enough QUALITY sleep each night, since this can also increase stress in your life and negatively impact recall and lucidity.

Try to pinpoint why you think you are stressed. Make a list of things that may contribute to the problem, then go back over the list and see if there is any way to eliminate or reduce those stessors in your life.

Some stress is good - it keeps us motivated and on our toes, but there has to be balance between 'good' and 'bad' stress.

There are a ton of threads on this forum devoted to different thoughts and techniques, so I'd encourage you to do a search for ideas.

However, everyone is different so you'll need to find what works for you. Personally, I like to meditate outdoors since I feel like I absorb calmness from nature. Other people do it in their living rooms, bedrooms, whatever. I'd encourage you NOT to meditate on your bed, though, since it will make it extremely easy to fall asleep. You'll want to sit up straight, either on the floor or in a chair - practice good posture. Where you put your legs will depend on where you're sitting.

Basically, concentrate on your breathing. I like to visualize inhaling positive energy and exhaling negative energy. Let your mind wander. You can start by doing this for 5 minutes, then increasing the time as you see fit. I don't sit for over 10 minutes usually, while other people do it for 20 mins or longer - it just depends on you. The key is finding whatever works for you and your lifestyle.

Some people listening to music, others don't. Again, it depends on your preferences.

Try doing it at least every other day, if not every day. Every day can be difficult sometimes, so do what you can - though you don't want to create more stress worrying about when you'll have time to meditate again! But it helps to schedule it into your day so it's not easy to blow off.

There is no right or wrong way to meditate. Hell, if you want to do a headstand for half an hour, and it works for you, then go with it.
