      Trouble recalling dreams recently

Recently, I'm having a lot of trouble recalling my night dreams. If I'm having an afternoon nap it works thoroughly: I get almost the whole dream and am able to write it down. But when I try the same in the morning it seems like I have a complete black-out, like I haven't had a dream at all. I try to move as few as possible, try to recall again; then I move into the possible sleeping positions I've had, try to recall again, but still no result. However, about half an hour after the awakening (usually while having breakfast) some images begin to flash up in my mind, most of them are incoherent parts of the dream and I therefore can't structure them to a chronological order... this began on monday morning, and happened on tuesday, wednesday, thursday and today morning as well.

Could it be the fact that I can't wait returning home, because I've been in France now for 6 weeks and am really looking forward to going home tomorrow, so I could be kind of troubled because of this? What do you think? Or is it maybe just the fact that I haven't slept that much during the week?

      Hi Stuetzl,

Sleeping away from your usual dormatory or safe place (home) will definitely effect the way you sleep. You tend to be a little more alert since you're in unfamiliar territory. Some people actually use this to their advantage in becoming lucid, being as that more alertness = more awarenes which leads to lucidity. They might try sleeping in a different room or at a friend's house.

I wouldn't worry about when you're recalling your dreams, just the fact that you are recalling your dreams is good. When you get back home you may find yourself falling back into your normal routine after a night or two.

well, actually I arrived in France 6 weeks ago and it's not that unfamiliar anymore... however, I started keeping my dream journal about three weeks ago and my dream recalling was surprisingly good (at least 1 dream a night)...

yeah, I hope so... maybe it's really just the fact that I'm a bit excited to finally going home, because, frankly said, I'm getting a bit tired of speaking French...
Well, tomorrow night already I'll see if it changes *happy is*

another thing: is it possible that illnesses can affect dreams respectively dream recalling? Because I feel like I've caught a cold a few days ago

I know that being sick definitely effects my dreams as far as content and vividness - they seem more intense. Many who've had fevers also tend to report the same.

As far as recall, I suppose the more intense the dream, the easier it is to recall.
