Thread: Recording Dreams

Typing's my favorite, but I didn't vote because right now the answer is "I don't".

usually i dont, because im too lazy, but when i do i write it down old school style. and i dont just write it, i draw pictures too.

i prefer to write them down because i heard that writing things old style is more effective because it is slower and therefore keeps you from rambling. but, i tend to type them out because i want to catch all the details that would take forever to write. i also draw pics. sometimes a pic is all i need to remember a whole dream, when i review my journal later.

there is something i haven't mastered yet as far is dream recording. and that is writing out (or playing) the songs i make up in my dreams. i create symphonious music in my sleep sometimes and just can't remember it when i wake up. other times i will wake up with the tune still in my head but i'm too lazy to get up and record.

bla bla bla bla. do u ever get tired of talking about yourself? i sure do.

oh man, i can make up crazy lyrics and music in my dreams, but can never remember em

The music in my dreams always seems so intense and beautiful but I can never remember it. I wonder if it's actually any good or if that's only the altered mental state talking?

sometimes when i think of lyrics while asleep i realize that i might just think its good because of the altered state of mind, so i concentrate really hard, and see if it makes sense and if it really is good...and i think it usually does

It's just too much for me to believe that my mind can just come up with this incredibly great music out of nowhere whenever it wants to.

I'll bet if I could play it back for myself while awake, it would sound disjointed or just random or maybe like something I've already heard before. The reason it's so hard to remember is probably because there's really not a lot to it, just your mind stabbing at air.

That's my guess anyhow. Otherwise, composers could cheat by falling asleep, becoming lucid, dreaming up a really good composer to play something for them, then waking it up and writing it down and passing it off as their own.

I sometimes have great music in my dreams too. Once, not too long ago, I was dreaming that I was a famous singer for an awesome melodic rock band... and I gotta say, what my brain came up with for that dream was fantastic! I understand for some it might be true that if they were to remember it, it may not be as appealing as it seemed in the dream world, but I don't think that's the case with me at all, especially this dream. I did remember it... but this all happened just a few weeks before I began lucid training, and alas, my recall wasn't exactly spectacular. It was actually like something I would've enjoyed listening to..I wish I could've remembered it for more than just a few minutes, I was going to record it on my comp...
It could've been a hit!
