      ultimate dreamsign?

I often have dreams where I'll be walking along and my dream body will say "hey, this is a dream." I start going through the motions of reality checks, looking at hands, spinning, trying to stay calm, flying (I can usually get about 20 ft in the air and then I fall, or it's more like being on a low gravity planet), or whatever, but I never really feel like I'm lucid. It's like I'm having a non-lucid dream that I'm lucid dreaming. Perhaps I'm lucid for a second, but then slip back into non LD and just follow along. It doesn't seem like I could have a better dreamsign than my dreambody saying that I'm dreaming, and this has happened in the past three nights. Does this happen to others, and how do I take that next step?

The few times i'v been lucid i'v had no problem controling my dreams. Once i came to the grasp that i was dreaming, i knew only i could hold myself back. The best thing to do is when u try for take off, if your not that good try being flung from a sling shot off a huge cliff, and picture yourself flying into space. Oh yeh never doubt yourself.

I drift in and out of lucidity, sometimes I dont wake up, but fall back into a regular dream...For some reason I think our minds dont get the same rest when we become lucid, because during some of my longer lucid dreams I get mentally exausted

      Jill,

That's interesting. I've never noticed a difference in alertness with LDs versus regular REM sleep.
I do know that I am more mentally alert after having a night of vivid dreaming.
Maybe I haven't noticed is because I rarely have an LD that lasts for more than a few minutes.

How long to your lucid episodes usually last?

It felt like a half hour, but who knows it could have been 2 minutes.
