      First Try - Dream Recalled!

For the first time last night I tried to recall my dreams propely the next morning, or even better obtain a LD. Sadly I didn't get an LD, but I did remember my dream! I continually repeated to myself last night "I will remember my dreams", actually when I woke up in the morning I couldn't remember any and I was a bit annoyed. So I got up and sat in front of the tv and saw some girl on a soap opera that was being talked about on the morning news. Suddenly I had remembered that my dreams last night involved a girl and then I began to remember the other aspects of my dream too! So I wrote it all down.

Does anyone have any tips on how I could possibly improve my dream recall? Or is practice just best?

The same thing happened to me this morning. I couldn't remember my dream when I woke up — but I got up for a few minutes and suddenly almost everything came back to me. Later at breakfast, even more came back to me!

Usually what is recommended is to not move at all once you wake up — and just focus on remembering your dream. That usually works for me. Sometimes it doesn't though, and that's when I get up and move around a bit and sometimes it will just come to me.

One thing that I have done that seems to work, (Can't remeber where I heard it,) is to hold completely still when you wake up, and try and remeber your dreams; if you can't, start moving a small part of your body; like your finger or something. This is supposed to work because the part of your brain that controlls your movements while your awake, (can't rember what it's called...) is used for remebering your dreams while you're asleep. With practice, however, you'll get better. I used to remeber one, if that, but now I remeber two or three, generally. Another thing you can do is get up in the night to record your dreams, but this messes up my sleep cycle if I do it too often; I'll wake up tireder than when I went to bed!

Had an interesting talk with a good friend today, He is a Native American and very Spiritual,

we were talking about dreams and recall,

He gave me an idea, when you wake up in the morning, look out your window, observe nature, and just let your mind relax, apprently the dreams of the night will come back to you,

Now I havent tried this, but it sounds interesting,

perhaps the window is taken as a symbol by the subconciousness and can be used as a tool to recall dreams,

      Heck, try it out,

      I should too

From my point of view. It is not about wanting or not wanting to recall. It is about your current feeling. You have to be prepared to recall the dream. No stress from previous day, no worries. Only dream and you. And the dream will come becouse your consciousness is fully concentrated on it.
