      Question about Dream Recall

It seems that autosuggestion is a popular tool for improving dream recall. But it is hard for me to understand how to use it. It seems that you must repeat a phrase in your mind ("I will remember my dreams when I awake.") until you fall asleep. The first night I tried this I got three dreams. Then I got none for three days. To use autosuggestion, are you just supposed to keep on doing that for a week or so, and then you will start automatically recalling dreams better? Because it seems to me that you can't use any LD techniques when you are using autosuggestion.

On a separate note, I awoke this morning disappointed, as I remembered no dreams. Suddenly, I found myself thinking of my friend for some reason. As I concentrated on him, I suddenly remembered every detail of my dream last night. It was amazing. Is that supposed to happen?

On yet another separate note, I would like to ask what the best technique is for someone who :

      1) Goes to sleep at 9-10 o'clock.
      2) Cannot get up in the middle of the night unless all I have to do is just stay awake in bed for a while (with lights off.)
      3) Must wake up at 7:15.
      4) Is willing to practice for as long as it takes and is truly dedicated to Lucid Dreaming!

Thanks for reading this long post

autosuggestion is like everything else, practice makes perfect. im somewhat new myself and im sure someone else can answer your questions better than me.

but why cant you get up in the middle of the night? wake up family... make to much noise...think its just to much of a bitch to get up.....

I'm fairly experienced with Auto Suggestion. A long time ago, when I was first Experimenting with it, I said ONE time before I fell asleep, "I will wake up after every dream and remember them.". For the next 2 weeks, I woke up after every single dream (around 4 times per night).

With some people, it comes naturally and they have alot of success with it (like me). But with others, they don't have any luck at all. It really comes down to your mind set. If your able to be Hypnotized at all, you'll have alot of luck with this probably because it means your Prone to Suggestion and your mind should easily retain and focus on the suggestion while your asleep/unconscious.

      .

Keep positive when talking to yourself at the evening and you will increase your success rate. Each second you spend thinking purely on what you wish to have lucid dream about, will be stored somewhere in your brain. Dont worry the results will come.

Maybe one warning. Dont await superb recall each night. Not every night is perfect. Remember you are trying to change what you have built many years. So it takes time and lot of patience with yourself. Be happy.

I am wondering about this too, especially whether dream recall stays intact if you stop actively encouraging it every night.

Maybe an experienced user can provide some insight? Do you still use autosuggestion, or is good recall something you always kept after you got it?
