      Can't recall much... Of anything.

I very rarely recall any dreams. When I do it's vague bits and peices.

I've been trying to remember my dreams pretty much since I joined this site.

I've tried auto-suggestion and other things, but nothing has really worked. I so very badly want to lucid dream, and I understand that I can't it's useless if you don't have good recall, so I need help.

I do have a hectic schedule (military institute with tons of homework) so there is a stress factor. I also give myself breaks from trying so that it in of itself does not stress me.

      Any ideas, suggestions?

It sounds to me that it could be the stress. I'm the same way. I have phases where I remember a lot of dreams, but since school started, my mind is always active with school and the weekend and things of that nature. Best thing I can tell you to do is just clear your head, forget about everything (easier said than done) and focus on yourself.

Also, maybe there can be some outside things that can get you to dream? haha I know it sounds ridiculous, but everytime I drink (doesn't have to be a lot) I have dreams, and I remember them without trying.

I hope that works, but something is telling me you've already tried to do those things.

Yeah does sound like it's the same story.
Problem with the alcohol idea - at a military institute, they don't let alcohol. People sneak it up of course, but it's still harder to get.

I'm having the same problem, i stopped remembering my dreams after day 3 or 4 but whenever i remember anything and try to remember more i forget it all completely.
As i hear smokin Mary J. helps with lucid dreams A LOT but it might be just a tiny bit hard smoking marijuana every night at my house... or at a military institute...

If your in school, I would suggest strtching and meditating just a little before bed to get back to "you" and away from the stresses of daily life.

I'll try that, thanks. If I can remind myself. That's another problem I have, I always forget to just relax in the mornings and try to remember my dreams. I just get up and then remember I'm supposed to relax and it's like damnit.

Yeah the smoking thing? Big no no, especially cause I'm trying to get my security clearance done

Good stretching before I go to sleep makes me become lucid or remember usually. But only if I don't do it more than once a week. I think it has to do with relaxation.

I think it's because it's really relaxing, as long as I don't get too used to it. (Or it wouldn't be relaxing at all, it would just be normal.) Hope that makes sense.

Give yourself extra time before you go to sleep, around 10-20 minutes. Nothing big, but it might make a huge difference. I find if I'm in a hurry to get to sleep (school, plans, etc) then I can't relax.

Also, when you remember tiny parts of information, write down key words on a piece of paper, gradually the list will start growing.

Once it reaches about 10-20 words, every time you wake up you can read the list and it will help you recall. Highlight the reoccurring ones.

Ex. Your list will look (sort of) like this:

Cars, [BACKGROUND="Black"]crowded places[/BACKGROUND], friends, police, [BACKGROUND="Black"]lightning[/BACKGROUND], family members, school, tim hortins, etc.

Btw for the record, marijuana helps with knowing and recognizing the feeling of being awake, vs. Stoned/Asleep have a different sort of feeling. Hard to explain, but others would know what I mean. Very heavy users however may have big problems remembering dreams especially if they go to bed stoned. (Or so I've heard..) >.<

When i go to bed i always am relaxed and in no hurry to go to bed but i never tried writing down keywords to help me remember my dreams i just write the whole thing down.

Something i definatly dont read every morning, so ill give key words a try

And i understand what u mean by recognizing the different feelings

Haha stretching is very normal for me, seeing as I've been a runner all my life. :/ Doubt that would help me but ya never know.
A security clearance gives you access to info other people don't have. Basically. Have to have it as an officer.

It always takes me at least 30 min to an hour to go to sleep anyways. Don't know why, just always been that way. :/

Exactly, the same is with me. It doesnt matter what time i go to bed i always end up laying in bed awake for a while.

Yeah, i remember my running days when i was 13 but that was years ago, like 2 or 3 and now i probably couldnt run even if i tried.

Same, I hate it cause we get little sleep already and my body gotta hate on me and give me even less.

It's a great thing to do, you should take it up again. I'm easily one of the fastest runners here and it's a military school. Kinda sad haha.

My knees and back hurt when i even bend down or stand up to quickly let alone jogging, i think running might be kinda hard and besides everything ill ever need is in my house like food, toilet, couch and Xbox, you know the necessities of life. But i think we're drifting away from the point of this forum, have u been remembering your dreams latey. I remember a dream or two every few days but not to often

True true and no I haven't, sadly. Still. Need to try meditating before bed again.

Something that i realised when i stopped remembering my dreams for like a week straight is that i couldnt even remember y it is important to record my dreams. Once i looked it up and i suppose since my brain knew y it was important to remember them and i started remembering them more, alot more.

I dont know if looking it up helped or not because i never read anyone saying this but maby u should ask yourself if you really know y it is important to record your dreams. And u can still meditate and what not.

I know why it is important... I wish it were as simple as that though, I would trade knowing why to be able to know why and to fix it. :/

Righty then well im no professional if you couldnt tell so i would have to say that i got no idea on what the problem your having is, maby i started remembering mine now for someother reason then i siad but when i stopped remembering my dreams it lasted a week about.
After the week or so i just started remembering them and a few days after that i started waking up once or twice during the night and i remember those dreams to. Now every night i went from remembering nothing to 2 or 3 dreams so maby its just a cycle that everyone goes through.

      Anyways good luck with it.
Also i might try to start a new forum with the same topic to get some new people with more experience then me to reply.
