      Tips on REMEMBERING dreams!

      Hey!

I'll just give you guys and girls a short introduction of myself since i'm new here. I'm sorry if i have many grammatical mistakes as my mother-tongue isn't English.

So, i'm an 18 year old guy who lives in Sweden and i have always been VERY interested in things like virtual reality, dreams and, of course, lucid dreaming. There's one problem however... i don't remember my dreams! I know i HAVE been dreaming (as everybody does dream every night, right?) but i just can't remeber them, alas, it feels like i'm not dreaming.

I sleep 6 hours per night in average... I've heard that about every 90 minutes you should be in a light sleep and (possibly?) REM-sleep? It would therefore be logical to suggest that if you wake up after 6 hours of sleep you should be in REM-sleep/light sleep, which is required to be able to remember a dream. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Last night however, i was dreaming... several times even! This VERY rarely occurs... Can't really remember the last time i was dreaming before that... I am quite sure that i was dreaming just because i slept very uneasily. I was on a cruise to Finland and i was sleeping very uncomfortably, hence, i woke up alot during the night.

So the question is this: How can i start dreaming regularly without having to endure a near sleepless torturous night where i wake up every couple minutes :p. I've searched for this but unfortunately i couldn't find anything.

      Thanks alot in advance!

      Cheers!

try to sleep more that seven hours my friend
even more than eight because when i sleep a nine(21H00) wake up at five(5H00)or even before to go back to sleep to wake up at six to perform multiple mini dreams and a long one i find that is one of the best dreamin schedule
or you can wake up at the end of each rem period like stated in this picture i suggest after the first rem period though

You dream every night, REM sleep = dreams. Try to sleep more than 6 hours. 8-9 would be a very good amount of time to sleep. REM periods become longer later in sleep, and thus easier to recall. Journal any dreams you recall and your recall will improve in no time.

Moved to dream signs and recall.

Okay so say that i sleep and wake up just AFTER a rem period, like in the picture posted by wana (thanks!) at stage one, just after the "REM-column", would i remember my dream then? Or is timing absolutely crucial? Is it necessary to interrupt the dream in REM-period in order to remember it (=recall it? :p)?

It doesn't matter when you wake up. You can sleep through the entire night and still recall all of your dreams.

Whaa?! So you can actually have 7-8 dreams in one night? Even if you wake up in deep sleep? I have always thought you needed to wake up during a dream in order to remember it...

man when you wake up after a dream you recall all the details when u wake up after 9 hours of sleep they tend to be as fragments and only the last ones are more complete

It doesn't matter when you wake up. Like wana said, dreams from your earlier REM periods will be harder to recall. But they won't always be fragments.

So if i start a proper DJ and write everything i recall every night, i might even remember the other dreams that i have earlier during the night? I might even remember the dreams in greater detail?

Yeah. It just takes some time and effort.

Cool guys, thanks alot! I'll defenitely start writing a journal. Would be so awesome if i'd get the same effect as wana got (remembering past dreams). This made my day!

      Good day!

Once you wake up, lay in bed with your eyes closed as if you were going back to sleep. Your brain will start to switch itself into dreaming mode again, so your last dream should come back.
