      My Odd Habits

Well, I've had problems in the past remembering my dreams. I've heard it said that if you dont awake directly from an REM cycle, the next one will erase it and you'll be buggered by morning when you wake. I've always been too deep a sleeper to just "wake up" from a dream, and the whole drinking lots of water thing only works once a night for me anyways. Now, since christmas break I've been living back at home instead of at the dorms, and my room gets really hot. That or I'm just so hot natured. Anyways, I got me an oscillating fan to put next to the bed, and since it was too short by itself, I placed it on top of a 9mm ammo box. This makes it extremely unsturdy. Well, during the night when I'm experiencing REM, that's when I'm the most active in my sleep, I'll move around, splay my arms out, kick with my legs, whatever. Anyways, I end up knocking this big fan over about 3 times a night and it always wakes me up with the racket it creates. So that means every time I have an REM experience, I'm gonna knock this bloody thing over. I end up writing down whatever dream I'd had and setting the fan back up on the ammo box. This had been inadvertant until today when I finally realized that this is working great.

That's a nice idea... but why put ammunition next to your bed? Just kidding...

I have the feeling that the dreams I'm recalling during the day are actually supressed REM dreams, so it's possible that they are not completely erased...

that'll work fine, it's almost the same as using an alarm clock

Oooh, that is a good idea. *writes down 'KICK A FAN OFF BEDSIDE' as a new dream remembering technique*

Because you wake up only when you're dreaming, then. And it creates a big racket, just to make sure you wake up.

I have a fan. I might try that. I'll set it up for tonight.

HAHA! thats an awsome way of waking yourself...but why not just use an alarm clock. oh, because you move around alot during REM sleep...just tie some strings to your toes and suspend coke cans with pennies in them, that works too...*not like i've tried it*!!!

Today, everything was fine. Until roundabout, quarter to nine, I suddenly found myself in a bind. Was it something I said? Something I read an manifested that’s getting you down.[/b]

It was the most inadvertant thing. At first I was pissed off that it kept happening, but in my usual laziness, there wasn't a darn thing I was going to do about it. i'm thinking about moving the fan closer down by my feet tonight. cuz i tried moving closer to my head last night and we had 0 success.

ya, i do a similar thing...alarm clocks have never been able to wake me up, and i seem to be able to simply hold it til i wake up with the water before bed thing...so one time when i let my room get really really messy, and i ended up sleeping in trash (trashcan was overflowing and i sleep on the floor nearby it)...well i move alot during REM too, so all the soda cans and stuff rattling around when i was stirring woke me right up...works great ...hope i didnt wierd anybody out, what with the sleeping in trash thing
