Yeah, I love Northern AZ. Sooo many places to visit that are all so unique. I've got a lot of pictures of this area in my Dream Journal if you are interested in seeing them. That's where I normally post my pictures.

Wow, and you're braver than me. I always got creeped out looking down in the water from the end of the piers. I couldn't imagine intentionally jumping.

Excellent, thanks TS. A bit of poking around through their music and I find it's largely appealing to me Hermosa is about an hour away from me, actually. I live much closer to Santa Monica (about 12 miles) and go there all the time for those gymnast rings and uber climbing ropes.

And Delphinus, that pier ends as a sort of square platform. So I'm hanging off of one of the back corners, and I'm really facing the shore. I probably should have pointed that out.

I went to your photobucket and looked at all of them. What an amazing majestic place. I'm begging my boyfriend to take me there.

And did y'all just happen upon that rattlesnake? And wtf a BAT petting zoo??

Cool. I lived just a few blocks from the Santa Monica Airport. I loved the ocean, but I never really was a city girl. I always looked forward to my family's camping trips out of the city. Growing up there has made me appreciate the area I live in now so much more.

Thanks Ophelia, I'm glad you liked the video and the pictures. Yeah, if you ever get a chance to come to this area you should. It's perfect for anyone who has any appreciation at all for the outdoors.

Oh...the bat pics aren't mine. I wish they were. I love bats. I always see them flitting around in the summer sky, but I have never held any in my hand.

But I got to be up close and personal with the rattlesnake. It was smack in the middle of this canyon:



....And we had to walk past it to get back out to our kayaks. But it was small and the day was cool, so it was sluggish. So I took a bunch of pictures. Poor guy...he was not loving it.


Oh, and I made another video. I'm thrilled to finally be able to do something useful with all my pictures. I'm totally addicted. It's been fun to put together videos using my pictures, but having each video tell a different story.

I would have peed my pants if I had to walk past a rattlesnake TS. But I guess if it's cold, they get slow because of the whole cold blood reptile thing right? Still... I dunno. If I go there, what's a good time of year to go to ensure that all snakes are guaranteed to be sluggish? I on the other hand, LOVE the cold

And I hate the cold. Give me heat anyday, even if it means rattlesnakes. I guess that's why I can live in AZ and be happy. I love the dry heat of summer and how you can be outside at 10:00pm and still wear shorts and feel wonderfully comfortable. I would really have a hard time living somewhere where it was damp, cold and overcast all the time.

I would think the best time of year to aviod rattlesnakes is between November and the beginning of March. Last year I was still kayaking in October and wearing a swimsuit and laying out in the sun. So I'm sure the snakes were still laying out in the sun too. It cools down in November and gets cold by December. And the rattlesnake picture was taken at the end of March.
