      [OLD] Proposed Dream Control Syllabus

Thoughts and criticism are most welcome! A bit of a re-work and/or expansion upon the current one in here. A more class by class approach!

      Class One

      Definition
Dream Content (from the DV Tutorial)

      -Day Residue
      -Schemas
      -Faulty Logic
      -Id
      -Attention

      Live Class Discussion
-Tackle the Lucidity vs Control Myth
-Class’s previous experiences with dream control

      Homework

      Assigned reading
-Billybob’s Schemata Tutorial, “The Infinite Universes of Lucid Dreaming” http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=46571

      Assignment
      Part One
Read through your dream journals and write a paragraph on how your dreams are created! Do you dream about work/home/school a lot? Old neighbourhoods or your current ones? Do the plots resemble real life (as in people, places, etc), or are they often very far-fetched? Can you think of something they resemble?

      Part Two
Write a brief paragraph on your understanding of what a schema is and how you could potentially use it to accomplish something you’ve never done before (ex. flight).

      Class Two

      Advantages and Disadvantages
      -WILD
      -DILD

The Importance of Stabilizing before controlling

      Control, Part 1
      -Passive
      -Active
      -Confidence of results

      Live Class Discussion
      Topic at hand

      Homework

Read the basic task of the month and come up with a way to actively and passively complete the task. Describe how you became lucid (WILD Dream sign RC ect) and then stabilized the dream. Then walk me through how you completed the task in each manner.

You may use one of your dreams from your dream journal, if you like. It does not have to be a lucid dream, but to complete the assignment; you would have to turn it into one!

      Class Three

      Control, Part 2
      -Dream incubation
      -Visualization

Using your dream senses to aid in control

Attention – It requires you to be there!

      Scene Changing
      -Techniques (spinning, portals, doors, blinking)

      Homework

      Assigned reading
The DV Tutorial for Control and suggested links. http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=74872

      Assignment
Think of something you have not yet accomplished in a dream, but would like to (example, flying, shooting a fireball from your hands, etc). Using what you know about control, how would now attempt to accomplish your goal? Every night before you go to sleep, remind yourself of the task and visualize yourself completing that goal. At the end of the week, suggest an alternative way of completing that task.

      Class Four

Dream goals – open, guided discussion

      Homework

      Assignment
Think of a simple personal task to do and write it here. Every night before you go to sleep, remind yourself of the task and visualize yourself completing that goal. At the end of the week, suggest an alternative way of completing that task.

      Final Exam

      Tentative Class Schedule
One class a week, time to be determined. I'm aiming for perhaps a Monday or Wednesday, since those are my normal days off, and I can devote my full attention to the class, rather than having to divide it with work.

Class will be roughly one hour long, probably around 8pm pacific time. I would like to cover the topic itself within that one hour and have an open discussion extend out for those who can stay, lasting however long it lasts

      I approve of this

You seem pretty organized. Keep in mind that you are free to edit your posts as often as you like without the 24 hour time limit.

Aquanina should be teaching a class on Dream Control soon hopefully. So we'll have 2 teachers.

Probably a good thing, since there seem to be a lot of students! Should we try to run ours at the same time, then?

Can you delete my second post? I just copied it into the first one! Thank you

I say just keep it to what ever schedule works for you. I'm sure you and her live in different timezones anyway which gives more flexibility to our students.

Oh well Aqua didn't specify a time of when she'll be back. I would just go ahead and start as soon as you are ready.

I can't re-edit my posts after 24 hours has passed! I'd like to add the "Shortcuts" idea to Class Two (where you invent something that helps you accomplish what you want).

Ok Naiya will most likely help you with that, if you haven't got around to it yet.

Also I was curious, did you have a class yet?

First class is this coming Wednesday.

I wanted to give enough time for people to respond to my proposed class times...

Not a huge response, so I'm kind of wondering how many people will show up on Wednesday!
