Ok, in case you guys haven't noticed, i have turned from a regular 7 days a week attendance to dreamviews, to a regular 1 day a week. I reckon its becasue of World of Wwarcraft. It's pulling my out of lucid dreaming, cos whenever I go to bed, instead of thinking of lucid excersises, I think of what skills to put in my rogue, where im gonna level up and waht dungoens etc.

I got 2 questions - HOW DO I RETURN TO LUCID DREAMING???!!!! (I can't just stop WoW, its too fun, try another way).
question 2 - anyone else got this problem? (errr..... anyone else got WoW lol?)

I hope to get feedback ASAP :yumdumdoodledum:

Heh, don't worry, WoW is my strongest dream sign. I just woke up from a WoW dream and I have at least one dream of WoW every night most of the time lately due to playing it.

So it's actually quite great for lucid dreaming. Get your hands on LaBerge's "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" if you haven't already and check out what he has to say on dream signs and intention techniques.

The only problem is balancing your priorities. Just think about it, take some time to ponder the matter and realise that lucid dreaming (something real) is more important than the game (an illusion).

I say just keep playing it, you'll get bored of it eventually. If you really want to stop NOW, then go cold turkey imo.

Computer games are a bitch sometimes... yet indeed, to fun to stop. This is also refferd to as addiction don't worry, just about every male in the westren world is affected by it.

Anyhow, advice! :

-Don't play WoW the hour before you go to bed.

-Meditate to get all the rogue thoughts out of your mind.

-Become lvl 60 and realise you wasted hours and hours on very little I often have that realisation after playing alot of a game that it has no, point, what, so, ever.

What is it with this game being so addicting??
I was watching an A&E special on TV a couple weeks ago about this 16 year old kid who got so addicted to the game that he'd play for 20 hours at a time or more. He'd stay up all night, not do any homework, and get bad grades in school because of it - it consumed his whole life. But I don't get why the parents just didn't take away his computer privledges?? Problem solved.

This is very true, my girlfriend got so frustrated with me because all i was doing was playing games that she threatened to break up with me. I almost lost my relationship and all the goodness that comes along with it. so be careful. Also, i lost about 4 friends, no joke. I was so obsesed that my friends quit coming around, because they would be so bored just waiting for me to get out of a party on FFXI.

I actually have a friend who plays for 4 days straight, no sleep, then he sleeps for 2 days and just repeats the process. He is very sick, he's had a disease called MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity) so it keeps him from going anywhere where strong chemicals are like people with cologne or perfume. So he just sits in his room and plays FFXI and WoW, his life is in those games.

I played wow. But I really like games just because of the models, I don't know what my problem is, but models are just so fascinating and I'm doing my best to learn 3d modeling atm . In wow I got to lvl 40, the only thing interesting there is the people. To me wow is like an advanced chatroom, the game itself looks nice and comfortable but it is sooo booring. So I can't answer the question on why it's so addicting. All I know is that my friend from school quit wow 3 times for 1 to 2 months each ... Stoat should know why it's addicting .

I also know that there are many hospitals that only treat game addictions since wow came out.

It's addictive because like lucid dreaming, you are in your own fantasy world. You create your own character, and you train them up, so that they can be stronger, faster, etc. and explore more exotic, dangerous places. Not only that but there are a range of occupations you can choose to work in, allowing you to make many things that can help other people improve themselves. It's basically a massive alternative-reality fantasy. Why this game in particular? Because it's built on the groundwork of many other games of its genre, taking all the best bits and multiplying the size by 10, which is why they can charge so much for it! People cant stop playing, so they charge what they like

It's not good enough to spend 20 hours a day on! I get bored of MMORPGs after a month or so, and move onto another one, or back to FPSs. Battlefield 2142 is my game of the moment :3

LIMIT YOURSELF.
I recall once, while playing America's Army, I spent hours just getting each weapon and emptying it into a wall. For HOURS.
Afterwards, I realized "Wait, what the hell was I just doing?"
Wasting my time, that's what. Limit how long you ever play for. I never play for longer than one hour, maybe two. Just time yourself. Play for an hour or two, and stop. Do something else. Like post on DV, for example, but that's proved to create an addiction in and of itself...

I never played WoW, but I've seen it played and was never really enthused, especially with the talk about how it eats your soul. I know a couple of guys who played it constantly, really wasting their time.

I went to this pop culture expo and I ended up with about six, 7 day trial disks. It was just like they were handing out syringes of Hammer or something.

"Yeah, the first one's free..."

I've played a bit of Guild Wars myself and I prefer the graphics hands down, and call me shallow, but that's what I look at first.

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, Wolffe is right about the whole alternative world thing. Also, the part of it I find real fun (or addicting if you must) is the part how you can explore volcano dungeons and underwater templees and such, but you needa be a higher level, so it makes you feel more satisfied.

Rogues PWN!

And I suppose I can do the same in a lucid dream... its like WoW is a lucid dream that you can just pay for to have instantly, but is 10 times as worse (I think Lucid dreams are one of the best, if not the best thing in life, so 10 times worse is REALLY good !!! ).

Again, ty everyone, but Im not gonna stop playing it. I might turn it into a dreamsign. I havent been bothering to recall dreams recently so maybe if I recalled my dreams, I would notice if it's WoWed up! - Stoat

I have that 'what the hell' feeling alot. I allways want to have everything in the game. Then when I am half way there, I am like: Wtf, what is the use?

Oh, and playing America's Army is like watching 'the evil jew' in nazi germany in 1945. It's progaganda

FPS's are way better, they drag you in less. A match only lakes a few minutes to half an hour max (if it's a game mode like onslaught at UT or Titan-thingy at BF). RTS's game do EAT my time, like C&C generals, and Warcraft 3. However, some goot Unreal Tournament 2004, that is so relaxing. There are more points where you can realise: Wtf am I doing, so less adicition for me

Eh, I only have the attention span to play a game for 2 hours max, so I don't get drawn into them.

That feeling only arises from playing games for the purpose of passing them, for their technical meaning. Games like World of Warcraft also offer Roleplaying servers, where the players don't play the game using their characters as tools for a small amount of fun through new technicalities - roleplaying is the online equivalent of theatre - it is spawned with creativity and thus, no matter how much you play, that feeling never arises because you don't play for the technical aspects (for the items, the models, the graphics, the sounds) - you play for yourself, for the immersion in a fantasy world and the creativity. And that has meaning beyond any "shooter" or any MMORPG like World of Warcraft that is played without roleplaying.

Sorry, just had to stand up against the generealisation of everyone playing WoW and such games being non-roleplayers, the likes of whom, of course, do waste their time, heh.

Eh, I only have the attention span to play a game for 2 hours max, so I don't get drawn into them.[/b]
I find the same, that's why even when I play games for the short enjoyment of their technical aspects, I usually never sit at them for more than one hour straight. I just can't, I get exhausted physically, mentally - it gets annoying. I take a rest, I go live my life and then upon returning home I get the urge to play again and do so for another hour or so.
I find it rather hard to believe that someone could sit at anything like that for hours on end, days on end even, as has been said here before.

If you think wow is addicting, you should play final fantasy 11 its endless, and will never end, its impossible to beat, because they constantly add things. Its 100% better than WoW, but its 13 bucks a months.

I used to play WoW.

It was very addicting and at some points in my time playing it I was addicted, but most of the time I tried to limit myself to a hour or maybe two a day.

Try only playing for one hour a day and find better things to do , like Lucid dreaming . If I did get addicted I would try and limit myself to a hour a day, after that I found it pretty easy to find other stuff to do.

Also there is a parent control thing that people use, even if there not kids to limit themselves to how long they can play a day.

By the way, WoW still costs something like £8-£9 a month .
