      The Game Oblivion

      The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

      THIS GAME ROCKS!

It feels just like an MMORPG, but it's single player.

It's an RPG game, real-like world, the NPCs are running no matter where you are on the planet ingame. I haven't even started on the main quests yet. Right now I'm just running around as one of the most known theives of the land!

This is what I've taken so far from my theif experience:
      - You can pickpocket people
      - You can kill random people on the streets and take their clothes, jewelry and all that stuff.
      - If the guards catch you stealing stuff, killing people, or anything of the like, you have the choie to go to jail, pay a fine, or fight for your right to be free
      - You can break out of jail
      - If you break out of jail or resist the guards arresting you, the next time you are spotted by a guard, you have to either run, pay the fine, or fight
      - Anyone can cast spells
      - There are many kinds of spells such as: Fire shooting, Ice shooting, Invisibility, lighting an area around you, breathing underwater, WALKING ON WATER, and MORE!
      - You can pick locks
      - You can pick the locks of people's houses
      - You can go into people's houses, kill them, and take all their stuff
      - If you go to jail, all the stuff that you stole is taken (the guards are smart )
      - You can buy or steal a horse
      - You can buy a house
      - You don't have to follow a storyline if you don't want
      - You can become famous for good deeds
      - You can become famous for bad deeds

There's so much more... I can't even remember!

      It's a real good game.

The downside is that it costs about fifty bucks, but it's worth it! Trust me! It will be the best game you've played in a long time!

Yeah... I dunno. It's just that... I miss the depth of chracter interaction that the Baldur's Gate series had. For me, there hasn't been an RPG series since that has had the same characterisation and plot, etc. Argh... I dunno. I might get Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, but, my computer is kind of f%&$ed at the moment. I COULD replace it, but, it'd cost me quite a bit, but I do have the money. And I MAY need the money for something else.

Plus, I got enough distractions in my life as it is at the moment. My time management skills are AWFUL.

I'll agree that this game is most very awesome, but there are too many things wrong with it and it could be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than it is. I've got it on Xbox 360 and surprise sur-fucking-prise Microsoft has once again released a game too early in production. There are too many glitches that get REALLY old, and the game even crashes sometimes during the loading screen! Other than that, there aren't as many skill choices as the previous Elder Scrolls, and not as many guilds to choose from. Not enough different forms of armour, swords, shields etc etc.

Anyway, I'm sure there are more things wrong with it that I can't think of at the moment, but I do like the game.

Touche Matt! Although I have the same problem, I'm ashamed to admit that it didn't stop me from spending way too much time on Oblivion. That game has probably reduced my grades by a significant margin! Cant.................stop................. gaming!

Now I just need a new game............... when does Halo 3 come out again?

f you get the computer version, those bugs don't exist. Microsoft produces some real shit sometimes...But the computer version doesn't have any real bugs.

That's why people build them. It's a lot cheaper than buying a piece of shit dell or something.

Yes, it gets better. After you get out of jail, there are so many possibilities. You can do so much in it. Did you make it into the city yet? or are you still in the underground passage?

I do admit, I didn't really adore the first underground passage sequence. It gets a lot better when you reach the outside world.

Oblivion is next on my list of games to buy, I'm looking forward to it. But I have heard that alot of Oblivion fans are disapointed with it, apparently the previous games were more complex or something.

Yeah I'm still in the underground passage thing. I got really confused cause they were giving you all these items and not enough space to carry them. Then I couldn't move anymore because I picked up too much stuff.

      Yeah...

Upgrded computer, got Oblivion. It's great. Like, it taxes the hell out of my computer, and I have to have the graphics on medium-low settings, and the frame-rate ain't as smooth as I'd like, but, yah, it's still purrrrrdy, and it's stil great. I'm gonna do some tweaking with my drivers, config settings, and ram and see if that improves performance.

I got the game a few days ago (Thats why I haven't been on for the past few days).

I love it! Right now I'm just picking out random side quests to do, I became the arena grand champion yesterday, and got an Adoring fan.

Just one thing annoys me, although I wouldn't consider it a flaw. I spent ages learning to pick very hard locks properly, then opened the display cases in the fighters guild. All the super cool weapons are just replicas, and the armor is ceramonial.

I'm now stuck as a vampire though, I've started the quest for the cure, but I'm not sure I want it. I get alot of stat upgrades as a vampire. And the hunters sight is very handy.

A damn mage tried to set me on a suicidal quest, fortunetly, I'm an argonian, so I could breath under the water.

There's hardly a difference between the PC and 360 versions. If your PC is crap, than you're better just buying a 360. If your PC is good, then definately go with the PC version (mods, add ons, etc.). I've hardly encountered a bug on the 360 version. In comparison, on highest settings on the PC there's a significant advantage in terms of draw distance and shadow, but the 360 version is just a step down. It's about between the Med-High settings.

Oh, and some problems can be cleared on the 360 by reseting the cache (holding the A button at console start-up (long load times, freezing, etc.).

I wish I had some guidance when creating a character. I definitely would have left out marksmanship and mercantile as my major skills and instead chosen alchemy and armorer. It's a long game not being able to go back and change those things, but it's not so bad since you can train 5 skill points per level.

which reminds me, can anyone tell me where to get restoration training?

overall, kickass game though. Hours of fun, very little boredom. The quests tend to be pretty creative, too, which is a bit rare for any game with such massive scope.

I liked Morrowind a lot, but I need to build a new PC before I get Oblivion. I won't touch a 360 (They've got a lot of problems, and I can build a pretty good computer for less than one costs), but I'm strapped for cash anyway.
The series has always been good for a bunch of reasons. Mostly I love how the story is completely optional. You can do whatever you want in the games...
By the way, one really good reason to go with the PC version: MODS. There's mods out there for Morrowind that up some of the graphics, especially faces, to near Oblivion level. Check these out: Modded Nord Heads
Not only are they amazing graphics wise, they actually REDUCE the number of polygons.
