Homer Cubed - based on what?

In the 6th halloween episode of the simpsons homer stumbles into the third dimension. This is my new goal for a lucid dream since I'm been to hell. What was that episode based on? I can't find it anywhere and I want to see it cause it looks cool and I don't know what to call the area in my lucid list.

I don't really know that it was "based on" anything. It was just using CG to create the Simpsons. He was a 3D model set in a standard 3D grid, with a few different objects here and there. I'm not sure what you mean by, "what was it based on?"

All of the halloween stories are based on movies, books, tv shows. I have a feeling that it was a Twilight Zone episode (homer mentions it,) but don't know what episode.

Now that I think back on that episode, I believe the beginning of it is based off of a Twilight Zone where a kid goes through a wall into another dimension, and the dad has to try to pull her out from this side of it.

But the rest is definitely Flatland.

That entry should be updated, though. The idea of a two-dimensional person going into three dimensions is clearly an homage to Flatland.

That Twilight Zone episode was the corniest, cheesiest episode ever. I laugh just remembering when I watched it several years ago. I thought it was the "9th" dimension or some number like that, but everyone knows that Wiki is never wrong.

Yeah, it's pretty cheesy seeing it now, but I remember first seeing it when I was like 12, and I thought it was creepy. That was long before hollywood special effects made everyone jaded.
