      *Stardust*

Ok...I love this movie. It's one that I had to see at least twice before I loved it. I think because at first I didn't really understand everything...but now when I watch it I just can't stop freaking laughing. It's SO effing hilarious. I haven't seen such effective humor/comedy like this in a long time.

The whole story with the princes is wet-my-pants funny, and Captain Shakespeare. Ahaha. And the guy with the chicken voice...lmao. Not to mention that Claire Danes looks GORGEOUS and I think her acting is stellar. =) (Thank GOD that idiotic Sarah Michelle Gellar turned down the role as Yvaine, I wouldn't have rented the movie if I knew she was in it.) And I love that they have all these big name actors and used a no-name for the leading role. He is fantastic. I'm sure we'll see him alot in the future.

Plus I'm not a fan of "love stories", but this love story is just so wonderful. It's actually quite simple and predictable, but I think that makes it easier to focus on the humor and such.

Anyways, thoughts on this movie? I expect it was not one that did extremely successful in the theaters, but that people will discover to be wildly entertaining. I want to go watch it again now.

"Honey, you're wearing a bathrobe..." Haha I could quote funny lines from this movie all day. I'm going to buy the DVD so I can get the extras and deleted scenes.

I remember watching the trailer and immediately thinking...

Airships! If they ripped that from Final Fantasy, who knows what else is copied?!

The airship is EXTREMELY cool hehe. They are lightning ranglers. Do they use airships to collect and sell lightning in Final Fantasy? =)

Sure, the airships have engines and whatnot but still, they're quite different in construction and features. Some are even run by magic and such, if I recall, so quite fictional.

Not to mention that I don't see any engine on the Stardust airships at all. They seem like old sea battleships strapped to baloons, heh.

Ricky Gervais was in it, amirite?

And I believe Jonathan Ross' wife wrote (co-wrote?) the script. Or something.

I also loved this movie! My sister and I were going to see this in theaters before she left to go overseas (her last movie in the US for 9+ months), but even after we paid for it the stupid theater screwed up and said it wasn't showing. We went to see another movie (which was pretty stupid), only to find out when we left that they had, in fact, shown Stardust.... Me? Bitter? A little...

At any rate, it really was a captivating story and was a lot of fun to watch. But Robert DeNiro....

That scene with him getting caught dancing in the closet kills me every time.

I watched this film months ago, I looked at the trailer and didn't think much of it. I then went and saw it because I had nothing to do and wasn't expecting much at all...luckily I was wrong. I really enjoyed this film. It was one of those films where you want it to be longer. Yeah it was good how they had big stars in it that had the minor roles.

If Sarah Mischelle Geller was in it then I doubt I would've really watched it.

Although this was a good film I pretty much predicted the ending from the moment
      Spoiler for My Prediction:

I admit I was NOT impressed with the trailer. It looked like they were trying way too hard to be a huge epic movie or something. But I'm so happy that I went ahead and rented it anyway. I've seen it at least ten times now. The comedy alone makes it worth it. =)

Hasn't anyone read the book? The reason I was so excited about the movie was because of the extremely amazingly excellent book.

I LOOOOVED the movie! I remember thinking that it could have used some minor improvements, just cuz the book was so profound.. but man, it was good. I watched it in Russia, dubbed in Russian. Thankfully it was dubbed extremely well.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was going to be in it?? GROSS.

God I know, I can't stand Gellar. I'll be buying the book shortly. I must read it now. I was wondering how the movie measured up...what do you think Mes? How is the book different? Or should I just read it for myself to find out.

I can't remember specifics or anything at this point, but.. the book was just more.. profound. The same way that the Harry Potter books are more profound than the movies, but the movies are still awesome.

In terms of measuring up to the book, I thought Stardust did a magnificent job. I mean, it had to fit in as much in as possible into a 2 hour movie. Two thumbs up.

Yes I loved this movie. It didn't do well in theaters?
      That's a shame.

I think it did well...but maybe not as well as they had hoped. Especially with the cast, and the huge budget, and the fact that it was like years and years in the works.

I don't know anyone in RL who saw this movie in the theaters, and only a few people who have seen it at all. I find that kinda strange.

I read the book, but haven't seen the movie yet. I love anything by Neil Gaiman, and I thought that Stardust was great, so I really need to see it.
