The Human Body: Pushing the Limits

Anybody see this, on Discovery Channel?

F'cking amazing show. I just got done watching an episode on bones and muscle, and there's another episode coming on right now that has to do with sight.

[Edit: Looks like there's a marathon. They have one about Sensation coming on, next, and another on something else (forgot) after that. Catch it if you can.]

      I LOVE THIS SHOW

A lot of the things they discuss, I learned during my summer course at Brown, it's fairly in-depth and accurate, along with enthralling, beautiful CGI (reminds me of body worlds, so it's very accurate), and real-life stories = WIN

Also, the last episode mentioned lucid dreaming during the last five minutes or so! I was a bit disappointed that they didn't go into more depth about it, but just having lucid dreams mentioned seriously on TV in such a scientific show is a great step for the subject

Exactly. What they mentioned actually illustrated a point some were debating about in the "Using Dreams to Practice Martial Arts" thread. I'm gonna add to that thread in just a lil bit. But I'm wrapped up in the show now.

They mentioned Lucid Dreaming and Stephen LaBerge a couple of times. I haven't seen all of it, but I'm going to check it out when it comes on again in a few hours. I've been getting the play-by-play from a friend, and it sounds badass.

Haha. That "color-changing card trick" was dope. When they finished, I was like "ok...that wasn't all that great...the guy just grabbed another deck of cards, when the camera wasn't on him." I completely didn't notice what they were actually doing!

Kinda makes you wonder how much we actually miss, on a daily basis.

I did notice the background had changed, but not the shirts or anything like that.

This blind guy is cool, did I already miss the part about dreaming?

Yeah, it was on the episode before this one.

[Edit: Nevermind. They're talking about them in this one, too. ]

If anyone comes up with some links, I'd be interested to check it out.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

It just premiered for the first time, recently. I checked around for some links, but I haven't been able to find any video of it yet. Right now I only know it to be on the Disc channel.

That dentist put the patient into a HILD. 45 minutes long!

Next they are gonna show mind over pain in martial arts, something that I teach to my students.

You don't have Discovery? I'm sure if you search for it you'll find it. For me it's usually around 250 on both my parent's and my providers.

The brain one is on now.

I'm very surprised that the programming isn't the same.

No..In canada they have alittle thing now called "mandatory minimum amount of canadian programming(I think)". Apparently every channel has to give up what two hours to "made in canada shows".

its a shame though cause they all suck...Except for puppets who kill now that was funny.

Hahah. That was messed up. Imagine waking up to the sound of an alarm clock and moving around, groggily, trying to escape it, then you open your eyes to see you're straddling the rim of a hot-air balloon basket and are about to jump out.

Too scary. I don't want to wake up in a balloon

I expected Dr. Laberge to be and older out of shape man from some reason.

This is probably one of my new favorite shows. I've seen them all like 5 times.

Discovery Channel is the best. I probably learn 3 times as much from it as I do in school.
