But, you can play football, in real life or on a computer game, for a good five minutes or so without interruption of play, and when play is interrupted, it's usually dealt with very quickly. It's a fluid sport that translates well to videogames. I just don't think I could get used to how you do things over there.
It does look good though.
american football isn't that bad once you get used to their rules and how they play and all, i'm guessing - "Plsy for 5 seconds, then stop, then start, while having to choose strategic options I know nothing about" - you're talking about running a play then choosing another, that's just how it's played, you run a certain play and once you're tackled or run out of bounds you run another play, and so on.
whenever i watched football (soccer) i hardly ever get what's going on, with the rules and all, all i really know is you run around and try to hit it into the net haha. it is pretty cool though, most of the times.
