SH4 was never meant to be a SH game, but they made it one at like the last minute, from what I've read. I have SH:Homecoming, it's pretty cool. |

Any fans here? My favorite game ever is Silent Hill 2. Surrealistic transdimensional horror at its best. I haven't got to play Homecoming yet and it'll probably be ages from now before I can even get a new console, unfortunately. I love the rest of the series except for SH4 (which I don't even consider to be a true SH game). I also love the movie. |

I've played SH homecoming, and I didn't like the storyline too much. Could have used a bit more "realism" in the characters, but other than that, I thought it was a pretty good game. Just wasn't scary or gorey enough... |
|
Exactly. That's one reason I hate SH4. It wasn't even supposed to be a SH game, but it was turned into one so it would sell. You never even enter Silent Hill. The inventory system sucks. The controls suck. The main character sucks (he's the Keanu Reeves of the Silent Hill series). The redneck ghosts and Grudge ghosts suck. Having to pin them down with a type of sword that seems to weigh several tons sucks. Having to bribe an inbred devil worshiper with chocolate milk is ridiculous, and it sucks. Walter is the lamest ghost ever; he looks like a Creed roadie and walks around with a pistol, and he sucks. The eight foot tall burping nurses suck. The squeaking, bouncing monkey demons suck. Did I mention that I think SH4 really, really sucks? LOL. |

Strange like life itself.
I liked whichever it was i first played part of, the first or second. I wanted to rerent one of them, but ended up getting 4 because they had stopped renting the first three. ...wrong answer. |

I really think they should completely remake the first Silent Hill. Keep the characters, the storyline, the dead bodies that you would find in body bags or just chopped in half on the walls or fences, but give it life-like graphics. |

The first game is the greatest Silent Hill of them all. Actually, it's quite possibly THE best survival-horror game out there - very much preferable to Resident Evil due to the facts that: A) Silent Hill games usually involve Average Joe (or Jane) protagonists with little or no combat experience, while with Resident Evil it's always a friggin' militarily veteran; and B) the circumstances in Silent Hill are more occult (and thus more interesting) than they are in Resident Evil (a virus that turns people into the living dead? Please.) |

Yeah, I've always liked Silent Hill better than Resident Evil. I do like Resident Evil; it's fun, but not really scary. Startling at times, but not scary overall. Silent Hill is disturbing in ways that really mess with your mind. It's a much deeper level of horror, in my opinion. |

Strange like life itself.
Precisely why it's gotta be the best of the survival-horror games. I lent it to a friend a while back, and he gave it back to me before he even got to Alchemilla Hospital...told me that the extremely suspenseful atmosphere made him rather paranoid, looking over his shoulder and hearing footsteps, etc., whenever he was alone. Now that's the trademark of a good horror game. |

The first Silent Hill is awesome. I've only played one other, I can't remember one. You start out in a room with chains on the door, and you crawl through some tunnels or something.. it's been awhile since I played. Anyways I didn't like that one as much. That guy with the triangle head and the huge sword is the shit. |
