      Animal Farm

Short book, I'm still working on it, but so far it's very thought-provoking.

What are your thoughts on this book?

This is another book that highschool probably ruined for me. I actually did find this a little interesting though, and it is pretty clear it is an alligory for the communist rise in Russia, I liked boxor though, he was my fav character, lol.

Thankfully, I'm reading this to myself over Thanksgiving break. Hopefully once I return to school on Monday there won't be much discussion about it, which is wishful thinking. I like to sit and think books over after I finish them without others making their opinions influence mine.

I agree with what you said about the allegory, but I thought that in the beginning of the book it reminded me of Washington and how he told America that there were certain things we needed to do, like neutrality. Did we listen? Heh, no. And look where we are now. It makes me sad.

Boxer was my favorite character as well, he was very innocent, and the pigs took advantage of this and his willing to work harder and harder.

yes, at the start the head pig was a much better character, but like all good leaders, got torn away from power all too early...

Have fun reading it on your own, it makes things a whole lot better, I think reading in Highschool causes the opposite of what the teachers wish for, lol.

Man, I read this book in like grade 6 or 7, and it went way over my head at the time. I didn't understand the references at all. I'd really like to re-read it though, when I get the chance.
