I thought it would be cool for us to share all of the really cool bands that no one knows about. I'll start:

Dystopia: These guys are one hell of a doom metal trio. They have combo of shrieky vocals and growls that perfectly set the tone for their music. Seriously, these guys have some of the most energy-packed depressive/misanthropic music ever. Check out their two albums, "Human = Garbage" and "The Aftermath..." Also, the bass work is incredible.

Demilich: Fucking weird Finnish death metal. The instrumental styling isn't akin to the more thrash-like typical death-metal, but it sounds more like the jazz-death thing Cynic and Atheist had going on. Another thing this band has are the longest song names I have encountered. One song is titled "The Planet that Once Used to Absorb Flesh in Order to Achieve Divinity and Immortality (Suffocated to the Flesh that It Desired...)" As cool as these things are, the vocals are so weird and unique, it's crazy. They sound really brutal, while still being strangely calm. But, the coolest part has to be the fact that you can get every single song they ever made for free on their website. http://demilich.doesntexist.com/

The Mentors: Traditional heavy metal. This band has to be the most mysogonistic band ever, yet despite this, they kick all kinds of ass. Every single one of their albums is a classic, but I would recommend "You Axed for It!" and "Up the Dose".

The Funeral Orchestra: Funeral doom metal from Sweden. Totally heavy and slow as hell. Check out their first album, "Feeding the Abyss". www.funeralorchestra.com

Darkthrone: Totally grim black metal. Constant blastbeats and lo-fi production are a staple of this band. Check out "A Blaze in the Northern Sky", "Transilvanian Hunger", and "Under a Funeral Moon". "Transilvanian Hunger" is a quite interesting foray into minimalism. Anyway, check them out.
