2001 A Pink Floyd Odyssey

If you think the title sounds too good to be true, you're wrong.

Roger Waters, during the production of the epic milestone 2001: A Space Odyssey, was asked by no other than Stanley Kubrick to provide the soundtrack for it. Sadly, he and Pink Floyd were too busy at the time, but he has stated later that he very much regretted his decision. No surprise, who wouldn't have. And can you imagine how awesome it would have been?

Well, dream no further, the movie has been remastered and is now synchronized fully to fit to the songs of Pink Floys (which, apparently they automatically do anyway) and we are blessed with watching 2001 with songs from the albums Meddle, Ummagumma and Atom Heart Mother. And get this, the entire last segment of the film fits perfectly to Echoes, what a treat, this is the scene that song was meant for!

Well, I haven't seen it myself yet, but I will tonight and after just quickly watching the credits in the beginning, I am already in orgasmic excitement. It's going to be grand.

The all the 'DSotM synchs with 2001' stuff is nonsense really. High kids at uni.

The original soundtrack is better suited really. Pink Floyd songs would probably be too much of a distraction.

It's not the dark side of the moon at all, though. And I do think that Pink Floyd fits perfectly to this movie and its visuals. I doubt it will distract that much, it's not a very fast paced movie.

I haven't seen it yet, wanted to watch it with my roommate and it'll probably still be a few days. I still think it's going to be great

But then I know how well the synch was.

I think you're thinking of the Wizard of Oz hype. Echoes and 2001 actually do sync up uncannily well.
