That is a real trip. The day of Steve Austin is coming. I was a huge fan of that show when I was a kid in the 70's.

It seems it's basically just a display of some prosthetic limbs we can make. It would be a mistake to think it was an AI demonstration, since as it says, that thing is no more intelligent than a chat-bot program which anyone with an internet connection can interact with. Advanced prosthetic limbs are great though. If you're missing one yourself then that area of research is probably most important to you.

      Very cool.

Although, I've been watching some amazing prosthetic videos, lately (coincidentally), and we have really come a long way.

Well.....the thing about these things....especially when it comes to robots...that's what they want you to think...."is to help humans" which is always and was always mentioned of what robots can do for us....but people don't think of the down side like, what if these things are being built to be against us?
Remember that movie about a house under a robot system to do everything for you? I forgot the name of it, but this home care system went haywire and against a family and tried to kill them....i always look at movies as "true based events" which CAN happen but not in that situation. Movies were and still is based on what you should watch out for in the future....don't miss watching the new Robocop in February, it's might give you lots of hints on what machines can do....even if it saves a human being.

Wow... that actually seems like a good movie. I always though 'Robocop' was some stupid thing for people who just want to turn off their brains and watch explosions, but I like the philosophical slant about free will, from the trailer at least.

I was looking it up a bit and it seems they don't really have much in terms of 'bionic limbs'. It's not like the person can just think about moving their hand and have it move like a real hand would. Right now, they pretty much have to press buttons to perform certain pre-configured movements for them.

And I don't remember that movie. But I do remember the Simpson's episode based on it.

^ Most casual viewers think that about Paul Verhoeven's films but actually they're extremely intelligent satirical critiques of Hollywood conventions and government/law enforcement etc, showing up how people in power always want more and that they're often willing to go to extreme measures to get and hold onto it. He also parodies the extreme gore and splatter in modern filmmaking by going even farther. Even Showgirls was a scathing critique of sleazy exploitation films. By framing them as parodies that on the surface seem to take themselves seriously it slips past most viewers. Starship Troopers actually presents the US (the Federation in the movie) as a terrorist nation attacking other worlds to exploit them, then acting like we're the good guys and the other planets are filled with subhuman scum that attacked us first. The map of the galaxy shows the Federation where the US is on a world map and the Bug Planet somewhere in the Mideast. Plus the government is totalitarian but calls itself a Republic and the entire movie is framed in the style of Nazi or Communist propaganda films.

      That's not entirely true.

Also, the original RoboCop was huge on philosophical content. It's actually a pretty amazing movie. You should check it out.

Yeah i know about the law enforcement stuff, and propaganda being put in movies, that's why i watch lots of movies, from old to new....once you do this you will see differences start to show in originals and remakes.
But i still like movies lol even thought they got messages in them.
