      United Front Coalition

I want to form a coalition that combines both liberals and conservatives (and every other possible political affiliation) in order to create real change in the United States. This thread is to be purposed as a discussion regarding effective strategies to unite seemingly incompatible philosophies behind issues where everyone generally agrees.

The only debate allowed to take place regards to efficacy of the mechanism, if you find yourself disagreeing with someone then the strategy at that point is to find common ground. For too long, we have grown used to the divisive tactics that keep us weak as a people and a nation. In this thread, at the very least, we shall not be divided. We come here for the same purpose, there is something wrong with this country. Only if we work together, can we save it. From MLK to Gandhi to the Founding Fathers to William Wallace, all effective transformation has come from uniting formerly divided people. And so it will be in this era, as well. If we do not want tyranny and oppression, we already agree on something.

The basic strategy, in my mind, is to go for the easiest victories first, then start mounting discussions on more difficult topics. So for example, this NSA thing presents a fantastic opportunity because you'll be hard pressed to find more than a dozen people who favor it. Everyone is against it, making it the perfect rally point. But we must act now, while the iron is hot. The question is, what do we do? Brainstorming would be helpful. I was thinking about emailing various political movement leaders and setting up a conversation, but I'm not really sure who to email.

Another issue I think would be a good start for a United Front is marijuana legalization. If you're african american, you're four times as likely to get caught smoking weed even if you smoke the same amount as your white counterpart. Marijuana prohibition is the main crutch of the prison industrial complex, which is bad for everyone but especially bad for minorities. Meanwhile, a lot of people in favor of legalizing drugs are libertarians, and many of these libertarians have racist affiliations. If you could get a pro-african american movement to march alongside a libertarian movement, at the very least it would be a march that could not be ignored.

Those are the two issues I think it would be easiest to work on first because to my mind, they draw the most bipartisan support. I'm still at a loss as to a good strategy behind both uniting people, and how the protests should take place. Feedback would be tremendously helpful.

This has my support. I just posted the 4th Amendment under a bunch of YouTube videos concerning the NSA scandal. I labeled it the 4th Amendment and all capsed the words "warrants," "probable cause," and "particularly describing." That is something good people can be doing.

The 4th Amendment: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no WARRANTS shall issue, but upon PROBABLE CAUSE, supported by Oath or affirmation, and PARTICULARLY DESCRIBING the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?
