2006, 1st Open, Public rv lab

Here is the very first dream game from the first site I played on. I'm posting the entire 1st and 2nd of the 83 Saltcube remote viewing laboratories for Dreamviewers to read and discuss.

The first number is the post number.

The second number (in brackets) is a code for the participant. I might get in trouble if I give out actual usernames.

The host is (0). Actually the host was Nick Newport.

      Here is the Opening Post:

      2-July-2006

      post 1

      (Participant 1)

Some of us decieded that it could be fun to see if our OBEs/lucid dreams/astral travels/visions etc could be used as some kind of remote viewing tool. Therefore we set up a very simple experiment that everyone can participate in.*

The host (0) Nick Newport: put an object in a cardboard box and marked it "Saltcube RV Experiment 1". The object in the cardboard box is the remote viewing target. (0) will reveal what the object is on the 8th of july (7days). Untill then you can post what you have picked up in your various experiences.*

I know some of you have intense experiences everyday so I will set a limit of 2 guesses for each person. I recommend you analyse your experiences and post the ones that you somehow think could be the object in the cardboard box.*

      Good luck*

      (Participant: 1)

I guess I'm the first one to take a guess at this.

I just returned from a very short experience. I relaxed entered the alterede state and it quickly got visual. I remembered about our RV experiment and thought about the cardboard box. When I did this an apperance that looked liked my uncle appeared. He took this little black box and inside he found another litle box.*

It was made out of different papers and I got the impression of something that was homemade.*

I did not see the text "Saltcube RV Experiment 1" but there was some other text that kept changing. This text was some kind of code like "H GSW 248" but the letters kept changing as I looked upon it. Then I got the impression that this box had something to do with computerprograms. I was shown something that reminded me of old installation manuals of games.*

I saw paths like "c:/dong" etc and there was some screeshots of some kind of game with some text underneath.*

To summarize this my guess is that the object you put in the cardbox must be some kind of computer software. Could be a floppy disk that is in some kind of box together with a manual.*

      (participant 2)

      The box is empty.

      Post 4

      (Participant:1)

No its not empty. Remote viewing is difficult enough with an object and it would unfair to have no target. Some object have been placed inside the cardboard box.*

      (Participant: 0)

Thanks for making this thread, MVX (Participant:1).

(There is something in the box.) I'm hoping people will be able to make a couple attempts at RVing this, so go ahead and post multiple guesses if you want.*

Also, in addition to detecting that you perceive the object's function to be, try to collect information about its color, texture, temperature, etc.

      Post 6

      (Participant 2)

Well, it would be quite a laugh if it would be empty. But ok, not everyone likes my humor.*

Anyhow, I have read some remote viewing books, but I got scared at the immense training it requires. It is sad you can't do ALL things in life.*

I do sometimes see my alarm clock in my sleep/half-sleep and it always turns out to be exact the same time. Very handy if you can see your alarmclock in your dreams, "Oke, nów it is time to wake up"**

I have also seen "through the eyelids" on some occasions during meditation.*

But I think my conscious mind would 'corrupt' the visions I receive. It would be neat though.

      Post 7

      (Participant 1)

Yeah, I dont expect to be correct either. I have never trained RV and my experiments to prove that my OBEs really happens outside the body have all failed.*

Anyway I think it is important to try it regardless that my previous attempts failed.

      Post 8

      (Host Nick Newport)

I'm not saying that what you got was correct or incorrect, and I agree you're right it's important to keep trying it regardless. I'm thinking that over several tries things may crystalize and it will be useful to watch that process.

      Post 9

      (host Nick Newport)

(Nick) quotes (Participant 2) then writes:

Hey, maybe for a future experiment I will have an empty box. Or maybe not! You never know....**

I'm not yet completely convinced that all the training some of the books have is as critical as they make it out to be, but maybe it is. From what I can tell, it seems like it's really a matter of making your intuition more exact and the protocols they give are ways to do that but they're not the only ways.*

Next time you have transparent eyelids or are in an OBE, try consciously stating to yourself in short sentences with pauses in between what you're seeing. This has helped me a little to lengthen OBEs and I think it might help make intuition more exact.

      Post 10

      (host Nick)

Last call before I post what this is!*

I'll post the answer in the evening today (Friday), so get your entries in soon!

This is not spam, episode 24.

WakingNomad has been commissioned to do 50 weeks of rv targets. My signature is a link to his thread.

The only place on the Internet where a similar task was completed was Saltcube in 2007 Nick Newport hosted 35 consecutive rv laboratories. Followed by Eyeoneblack who hosted 48.

This thread is to look at and talk about these laboratories.

Nick and Eyeoneblack have left Saltcube. There are only 12 silent Lurkers and about 3 who post once a month, maybe.

Nick, Eyeoneblack and those who participated learned a great deal as you will discover as you read their posts.

I think the hosts and participants of those 83 rv Laboratories were very brave. As in, they were not afraid to publically "bust" (get it totally wrong).

Fear of humiliation is holding people back from giving WakingNomad's commission a go.

This thread will show how much "busting" has to happen before your deep mind gets a handle on what you want it to do.

      This thread is not spam.

This thread is encouraging you to havago at WakingNomad's commission.

      ***(7/292)

Laboratory 1 begins in Post 2.

      I fill-up to the post-box's capacity.

Laboratory 2 begins in Post 4.

So you can read the entire, first two Laborables then discuss them, if you like.

it's a book sitting at the bottom of a brown box. it may be set on top of something, but out of the way.*

there is a couch maybe dark against the opposite wall that the door is on, but further in the room.there seems to be a lot of 'stuff' in the room. a young man, late 20's early 30's walks in the doorway, he looks towards the box. he holds a can of beverage in his right hand. worn sneakers/shoes, corderoys and t-shirt.*

      Nick Newport continues. ..

(Participant 1) picked up on the idea of computer programs, it could be he was getting impressions about me rather than the object. I do computer stuff to make money and anyone picking up impressions about me will probably detect that.*

I like (Participant 4) description of the process she saw starting with the room the box is in, the lighting, etc. That part of her RVing was mostly correct (except the greenish walls, there's no couch, and the box was taped shut)*

However the carpet is pale tan and the box was under a window. I don't drink canned drinks usually, I don't own corduroy but I wear jeans pretty frequently.*

The fact that she got 'book' could be the same as (1) RVing me rather than the object because there are books all over the place here.*

(Participant 2) was correct in that the box it was in was far bigger than the object.*

I think (Participant 6) (who self-deleted their post ,but Nick had quoted it) guess was the closest:*
_________________________________________is it a tomato plant? lol*
I also got a flash of a black spider...
      ._________________________________________

      It's not a tomato plant,

but she did get the aspects of color correct:

      red and black.

I'd say this is a good example of how collecting impressions of qualities (color, texture, etc) can be more accurate than trying to tell what it is from the start.*

I'll be posting another thread for the next object soon...

      Post 14

      (Participant 1)

      Cool.

When I had my experience I was shown that this computer program was in the box.

You can say that a computer program is a tool as well but this inaccuracy simply is unacceptable if we are ever going to use our experiences as a RV tool.*

Conclusion of this first bold attempt must be that we failed to use our experiences as a reliable RV tool.

      However

it seems we were each given an impressions about the target so further attempts will show if we are able to get the accuracy needed.

      Participant 15

      (0) Nick Newport

      Yep,

I think anything that increases a person's intuitive sense is useful since intuition is very valuable in day to day life.

A lot of times decisions have to be made without all the information and being able to feel the better one is valuable.*

So whether people can guess the exact object or not isn't quite as important becase this contest can be a pratical exercise.*

      Post 16

      (Participant1)

(Participant 1 quotes 0, Nick Newport)

"So whether people can guess the exact object or not isn't quite as important becase this contest can be a practical exercise".

      *then writes:

It is an exercise that can show us some things. As you might know my theory so far is that OBEs, astral travels etc are all creations made by this source. Its like an hyper advanced virtuel reality but the question is if this virtuel reality contains links with our physical reality.

If Im ever gonna rely on the infomation comming from my experiences then I really have to experience some success.*

Failure of our experiments also raises some other questions.

I believe that if we get experiences that presents itself as some kind of truth and turns out to be false then we should be carefull to see any of the things we experience in these altered states as how it is presented.*

      Post 17

      (0, NickNewport)

That's true but my point is that intuition is available all the time whether in an altered state or not.

Life forces us to use intuition every so often whether we want to or not, simply because we don't have all the information that a strictly logical thought process requires.*

So if a person can increase their intuitive abilities by just a little bit it's worth it.*

(BTW, you don't need to put quote tags around people's posts when you quote them because they've already been added when you use the 'Quote' link)*

      Post 18

      (Participant 1)

I agree that the RV experiments can be a way to train our intuition.

      However

I use it simply to see if what I'm experiencing in the altered states have a link to reality

      but

now that we talk about it I'm sure that there would be no problem if I tried both ways.*

(End of remote viewing laboratory 1)

Remotely Viewing Laboratory 2 began on 8-July-2005 and 17 people participated.

I've placed an object in a box and labeled it 'Saltcube Remote Viewing Experiment 2'. On the 16th I will post to this thread what it is.*

The goal is for people to intuit what the object is.

Anyone may try, just post what you think it is to this thread.*

      Tips

The real purpose of this game is to find out effective methods to RV, so watch not only for what you intuit but how*you intuit as well so that you can fine tune yourself over time.*

Post everything you do and detect.

Rather than simply stating "the object is a XXX" describe the setting you find the object in, its qualities and so forth. Also note your physical setting, did you lay down? Was it an OBE? What time of day? Post anything that seems to be relevant.*

      Suggested Method For Intuiting*

The basic idea is give yourself the [u]intention[/b] to collect information about the object and then record all the information that comes to you*without evaluating it in any way. Only after you've collected object data do you perform a subjective evaluation of the data.*

You don't want to do these two operations at the same time because this can result in a chaotic feedback loop.*

Bruce Moen calls this finding a balance between your*Interpreter*and Perceiver.*
      For example, try this:*

Lay down (this is a body mnemonic to start using more right brain than left)*

State "I'm collecting information about the object's color for 15 seconds starting now"*

Don't actively think about colors, but listen/feel for a feeling of what colors are there.

Write these down without evaluating them. If you only get one color then that's what you get. Some objects have only one color, some have hundreds of colors.*

Repeat this process for these other qualities:*

      How hard/soft?*

How cold or warm? (metal feels cooler than wood)*

      Dense or airy?*

      Rough or smooth?*

      Bendable or rigid?

Some qualities appear to conflict such as "hard" and "soft", however many objects have both hard and soft aspects (such as felt-tip pens).*

After your data has been collected, draw an quick sketch of the shapes the object appears to have. Feel or points, 90-degree angles, rounded curves, pivots, spirals, hollowed areas, flat planes, cones, etc.*

You may want to do the above process once a day for a few days to get an idea for what feels right for this object before actually committing to deciding what it is.
      *

      Make your Anchor List

Once you have a data set that feels pretty solid, look at the attributes you've listed and pick out the ones that really feel like they're correct.

      Throw the rest out.

This is the most important step, your Anchor List is what I am most interested in people posting.*

Finally, look at your list and make a guess as to what it is. This step is not so important. The object may be a pair of black wire cutters with red rubber handles.*

      If your Anchor List is

      "red",
      "black",
      "hard",
      "soft",

then you're 100% on the money and so your intuitive skills are well developed. You may not be able to make the connection to "wire cutters" from your Anchor List but that's not so important because anything that increases a person's intuitive sense is useful.*

The real value of this experiment is to gradually develop your intuitive skills, so it's much more important to get good at making an Anchor List than it is to guess the actual object.

For instance you may be better at detecting texture than color, but you wouldn't discover that about yourself if you only guess that it's a shoe or something since shoes come in many colors and textures.*

      Nick Newport's 2nd Remote Viewing Lab (1B)

      T2 1b

Suggested Method For Detecting While Out Of Body

Once you're out of body and have enough coherence that you are aware you're out of body and that you know your physical body is in bed, you can either collect attributes using the method given above in the "Suggested Method For Intuiting" section or you can do the following:*

*Give the intention to teleport to the box containing the object.

When you teleport your surroundings should quickly dissolve and new surroundings take their place.

It's more a feeling that the world has shifted than that you have shifted.*

      * Begin stating out loud to yourself everything that you're doing in order to remain as objective as possible.

Deliberately talking at each step tends to slow you down a bit and keep things focused.*

      * Open the box and look at the attributes of what you see in the box. Do you see red? Blue? Does it feel hard? Sticky? How does it smell?*

      * As soon as you've gotten 5 or so solid attributes, end the OBE while you're fresh.

Don't try to get greedy and get more stuff than you can remember,

      7 attributes is the max.

Get up and write down or post exactly what you did and what you saw.*

      Good luck

It is something inside the box?*I can see the dark empty space of the box,*

The thing is square with a round part*Some kinda device*a dice or game piece?*a game of chance*ivory colored*solid item*about 3 inches tall.

Dreamviews, the target was a metal Bookend (!!!)

I didn't post to the first one but before I saw the answer posted, a red apple kept coming at me. That was wrong now that the answer has been posted, but I still see a red apple - which is silly because an apple is a perishable and in this heat I'm sure it wasn't his choice.

I gave participant 4 a colour because he/she did 4 nice posts. 3 or more posts gets a colour so you, Dreamviewers, can find them easy.

Great to see so many people participating in the experiment.*

I was wondering if you could describe your various ways of trying to remote view the target and submit it along with your guesses.*

Im kind of curious if you see it in OBEs, lucid dreams, etc.

      Dreamviewers,

it was Participant 5's idea to ask Nick Newport to run these remote viewing laboratories. He/she opened rv lab 1.

In this second rv lab participant 5 makes 6 posts. So I'm giving, participant 5 the colour "brown" so you can find his posts quickly.

I did as I usually do when going inside myself.

I close my eyes in a quiet spot and "flip inside".

I visualized the box, looking at it from all aspects. It appeared to be equal on all sides but this might have been because I have been dealing with boxes like that lately.*

My immediate flash was of yellow. And though I tried to refocus and try from another angle, yellow is what I was getting,..though maybe cream might be a better word.

And the shape seemed like a comma, which seemed odd to me. Thinking about it I want to say like a banana but like the apple idea...not logical.*And really ...no not a banana... big on one end..kind of rounded and fat... narrowing on the other. Perhaps even flat on the side it is resting on.*

      OK,

I cannot think what this would be in real life so, I assume I am a dismal failure at this.*I do have precognitive dreams, had one of the London terror attack...was very disturbing.*

Nick, This time open the box - we can't remote view something if it's hidden where we can't see it.*

I also think many of us were thrown off last time because of the shelves and books in the room.

This is a good way to practise tho

I summarized my answer because I thought my post would become long-winded but here goes...*

I can't really explain how I came about my answer.

      Usually I stop, blank everything out of my head, then go with the first thing that pops into my mind;

if I change it, then the answer most times is wrong.

It's kind of like turning off the tv then turning it back on and seeing the first thing that pops on the screen.*

In this contest I'm sure I'm not right - and that's not being pessimistic, it's being truthful.

I believe everyone has esp to some degree and that some are stronger in one area and others are stronger in other areas.

      Tele-anything is not my strongpoint.

I'm strong with precognitive dreams and have had a couple of day ones that came true, also have been pretty good with auras; however, I believe that you are meant to be strong only in one to a few areas no matter how much you want to be stronger in other areas.*

Those other areas may peek through you every once-in-a-while, but they are not meant for you to master.*

I'm not trying to be negative or say that somebody can't do something - there may well be quite a few people out there who have mastered more than a few areas or have at least some kind of limited success in them.

What I stated was just meant in general and I think I'm part of that general populance...I can't be any stronger in any other area.*

Doesn't stop me from enjoying trying though**

      Oh,

and this is a fun contest too!

*It shouldn't really matter if it's in a box, after all it's inside a building and you don't need to imagine entering the building first in order to get to the box.

It might be better to forget about the box and just draw from the idea of 'Saltcube Remote Viewing Experiment 2'

      [quote]Nick wrote:

      And the answer is:

      A metal bookend!

Since there was much discussion about the box, here it is also:

It does have shoe box-like relative dimensions as many people mentioned, however it is larger than a shoebox and is made of corrugated cardboard.

I picked the bookend because it has a number of very strong gestalts and I wanted to use it as an example of something that people might be able to get a lot of the gestalts yet not know what the object is since it's a relatively uncommon object and bookends come in so many different forms.

Some of the stronger gestalts are:
[*] 90-degree angles, very little curviness to it
      [*] Hard
      [*] Smooth enamel feel
      [*] Somewhat reflective/shiny
      [*] 'Cool' to the touch
      [*] Metallic
      [*] Flat
      [*] Has a hole
      [*] Rigid
      [*] Dense/heavy
      [*] Grey

      Some of the weaker gestalts:
      [*] Smells metallic
      [*] Round edges
[*] Has a utilitarian feel and purpose,
      industrial and not fancy
[*] Sound: rings a bit if you tap on it

I found it interesting but somewhat disappointing that several people posted (with a high degree of confidence in some cases) that it was dice. If they had instead said that it's:

      smooth,
      hard, and has
      90-degree angles

they would have been 100% correct instead of 0% correct.

A couple people said keychain and would have been better off to say:

      metallic,
      hard,
      cool to the touch,
      has a hole.

I think (Participant's ♥) entry is one of the best even though it's not 100% accurate it gives a good description of the process used:

The description of the room is mostly right, although it's a little bit generic and could fit many rooms. However, the room does have the feeling of being somewhat basement like in terms of lacking decorations. The bedroom is very close by and the door is always open to it, so I can see how an RVer might think they're the same room.

The comments about the computer and desk are accurate.

He got the element of it being

      silvery (actually grey)

      metallic and

      having a utilitarian feel,

maybe the drafting tool feel is related its office room feeling.

The only thing that I can't find a relation to is the guess that it's ball shaped.

*Participant 15's* entry is short and to the point:

I'd give this 60% accuracy, the color is darkish but not deep blue. When I first read this I thought the soft layer he mentioned could be a felt liner on the bottom so it doesn't scuff things. I had to go check to see if the bookend was padded on the bottom but it isn't.

However, the last part of his guess comes shining through completely right. It is:

      hard,
      metallic, and
      has a T-shape!

It could be it took a few seconds of streaming impressions in order to get a lock on it. To get around that, it would be great for people to give several guesses over the course of the week for the next experiment to see if they can get good average impression of what it is.

I think Participant 7's entry was quite good as well:

The room isn't green, but it was under a window and the paper taped to the box was facing into the room. I work at the desk she's talking about and devote a lot of attention to it. The window actually faces west.

The object is office-type equipment that's metallic and shiny. It's dark grey instead of black and isn't a stapler, however it does share many attributes with a stapler such as strong 90-degree angles and its utilitarian office feel.

Participant 16's got several attributes right:

It actually does have 3 'legs' in a sense (two of them joined), if you look at it from an angle.

I like that she's up front about not knowing what it is, almost like she's getting strong impressions of something and isn't guessing randomly, yet can't pin it down intellectually. I actually think that's a pretty good sign she's doing the right style of impression gathering.

Ok, that was a lot of fun!

I'm going to go hunt down another object and post the next contest thread shortly.

      Congratulations everyone!
