      Currency and Crime

      Currency and Crime

It has been said that “Money is the root of all Evil”. Well, perhaps that can be said for cash currency, or any instrument of guaranteed value. Cash can be used to purchase illegal services, contraband, exchanged for stolen goods, are paid out in bribery, or given to Republicans as campaign contributions. Indeed, there is no Evil in Civilization that cannot be cut off if the flow of Cash could be stopped. Cash is the lifeblood of Corruption.

We could go to registering each and every purchase by the exclusive use of E-Cash – Electronic Currency. Like using a Credit Card for everything.

This would wipe out all Crime, but then our Politicians would have to finally decide what really is Criminal. Now we have all sorts of laws against some fairly popular activities, goods and services which I can’t really believe that the Politicians would want to actually disappear, but have made them ‘Illegal’ simply so government could effectively give Ad Hoc Licensing to through the mechanisms of Corruption and Payoffs. For instance, a great percentage of revenues from Drugs, Gambling and Gaming and Prostitution circle back to the Law Enforcement and the Political Communities. All of that unregistered Money makes a perfect fit for Corruption. And didn’t Congressional Committees find out for a fact that the CIA was funding its Right Wing Death Squads with money from its own Drug Trade and contraband Weapons Trafficking.

So, our Governments need to get serious about what it believes should really be permanently stopped, and what behaviors, goods, and services should actually be eradicated. Then Governments should demand all Cash to be ‘cashed in’ and replaced with a Universal System of E-Cash where every transaction will be registered. It would certainly simplify Taxation.

I suspect that when Government Corruption is made to be effectively impossible, that there will suddenly be no real will or impetus for many of the Blue Laws now on the Books. However, will Politicians be able to find the Political Means to repeal such Blue Laws? What Politician would lend his name to a Bill that would legalize everything that so much propaganda had previously been pushed forward to demonize? And yet, we cannot imagine that such huge markets for contraband goods and services, that had previously been allowed for by either Corruption of Neglect, should suddenly be allowed to completely dry up, not without expecting some momentous consequences as a result.

And then there is the matter of how the United States will decide to fund its CIA when once Drugs, Prostitution, and Child Trafficking is prevented.

I also read your History of Money post. I think this proposed solution may be problematic because as is, the average American Household is $8,000 in debt, primarily due to the use of credit and debit cards. How could that be remedied?

I do think one form of currency is better than multiple, but I think zero is better. Of course, it would take a "near perfect world" to work together in community form for each other. Then, when no one is willing to help you, you would quickly realize you have changes to make, instead of bribing someone to help you since you have money.

By the way, nice to see you back on the forums, Leo.

Well, nobody has been a more dedicated Socialist then myself; however, some people are more capable of performing those necessary skills then others, and they need to be encouraged. yes, while certainly we do not have to pay some people a Hundred Thousand Percent more than we pay others, as some CEO's are now paid, but it seems sensible that Society could support a Six Tiered Pay Scale along approximately these ratios: 1 , 1.6 , 2 , 2.5 , 3.2 , 4.0

If you are very familiar with mathematics then you will recognize these numbers as the inverse logs of the numbers from one to six. As an engineer I have seen how well Logs work in all other systems, so why not as applied to pay scales. Entry level wages could be on the 1 multiplier. And the King of the World would make 4 times as much. That is plenty of incentive. And the pay jumps between Grades is significant enough to make everybody feel like 'making the grade'.

And then the Ratios are close enough together so that the "4's" would be motivated to raise the base wages of the "1's" in order that their own Ratio would rise in proportion.

What do you do about the "gifts" though? You don't actually need money to bribe someone. Maybe you just give them a new car.
