This night I woke up at about 4 a.m. and was listening to music on my radio.
As everyone of you has surely noticed hundreds of times that most of the texts in the modern songs are about love, friendship, loneliness, longing for affection...etc.
People sing (and also dream) about lack of simple smiles, complain of being lonely, cry out for human feelings...but well in reality they do little or nothing to accomplish it. More, they don't even try.

Let's take, for example, a common daily behaviour in a subway/metro. Everyone is sitting or standing silent, gazing out of a window or at the floor, impassive, indifferent to the surroundings. Some of the travellers have headphones on their ears and are listening some songs about this insane human interactions (or rather lack of them), but they do still nothing. And they wonder why the world is so cruel, cold, feelingless.

Well, the world is as one wishes... The vicious circle made to one's order.
      I'm tired being sorry.

Because they're not wishing for love and affection in this world, but a world of their own imagination. That's why... in my opinion at least.

Well I do not see it as a circle, people just act this a-social becouse society is getting a-social, but I do not think it really re-enforces each other's effect. However I do see it as something really silly that people don't Just talk in the subway. It is weird to start to talk to random people, why?

This behaviour is about the same as someone getting beaten up, and everyone just standing there looking at it.

There is lots of socializing out there. Look at bars, for example. The world does not lack a great deal of socialization. It is just that on the subway you are around people you will likely never come across again after being around them for just a few minutes. People on the subway are usually a hodge podge of different walks of life, and considering that they will never see each other again after a few minutes, why bother trying to interact? People would rather go to a bar where their particular walks of life hang out than have boring conversations for a few minutes on a subway. What would there be to talk about any way? Conversations are fun when there is either relating, opposition, or potential deal making. Without one of those things, it is just conversation for the sake of conversation, which is very boring.

There should be nobody hurting from loneliness. There is a bar for everybody. For alcoholics who want to stay away from bars, fortunately there is a club for everybody. It's not hard. Just make a list of all of the things you are, and then join some clubs that involve those things.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

Yea, I know. I put the subway just as an example. The main point I am drivig at is why people are so indifferent to each other, while they still sing about love, feelings... So, once again if they SING or DREAM or TALK to itself about it, there is no shadow of doubt that they DO NEED it. It seems quite obvious and yet...

it is a vicious cycle. for a while i was determined to extrovert myself to strangers. it realy realy nice to get a warm smile from a girl you could have loved, and to keep walking, its sad but nice. anyways my psyc teacher says i in 7 people is a narcicist. this is why people keep their head down.

It's just part of the western culture. The aim of life is personal success. As long as you care for yourself and those within your life that's all you need to do, everybody else will do the same and take care of themselves to the best they can. That kind of thinking has led our civilization to a definite degree of apathy. Whether that's a good thing or not is up to whoever you ask i guess. Personally, i think individualism is fantastic, but i do think that maybe we're becoming too seperated. If we were a bit more tolerant and open-minded the world would be a better place and we might not be so cold to each other.

You say 1 in 7 people is a narcissist? Well, actually I haven't taken it into account...

Yes, I've noticed that tendency especially in the USA (but not only).
And as you say a bit of open-mindedness and tolerance could make a little miracle in our everyday life. Who knows?
Anyway I don't encourage people to kiss and hug each other on the street...only to be more human-like.
