No, basically we were sat on a park, a police car pulled up, they took down all of our details because they saw a load of empty cans on the path. It wasn't us, since we weren't even drinking. But they took down our details and contacted our parents anyway for anti-social behaviour. Despite the fact we'd done nothing wrong. If sitting on a park with your friends talking is anti-social behaviour then obviously I have a lot to learn.

As I see it, the police round arough areas and council estates just want to dissuade people my age from leaving their houses at night since we're all criminals and they want us to stay off the streets. But I've never had anything to do with anti social behaviour, and just because some people are I have to put up with the consiquences of their actions. Instead of punishing criminals, the police in my area and areas like it all over the country punish every teenager they find so that they can make examples and dissuade people my age from anti social behaviour. And it doesn't work.

Running, on the other hand, will have even more cops looking for you and make you look pretty bad in court. Next time, just act respectful and sincerely friendly and offer to help the cops find the people they are searching for. It goes a long way.
I suppose you're probably right, but why should I have to go to court and have the police try to stick me with an ASBO when I've done nothing wrong? There's no reason why I should have to put up with the hassle of appearing in court just so that it can be made clear that I'm innocent, especially when I was accused of anti social behavior on the grounds that I was on a park near some empty cans. I shouldn't need to worry about being seen by the police when I'm out on a friday night.

And those cops shouldn't need to be fired. If they were properly trained on how to act in public in the first place then there would be no problem. But instead they patrol the streets just looking for someone like me to bother. And they always talk down to us, like we're criminals and they already have something against us, which lowers my respect for them even more.

And the way I dress is just like everyone else I know. I only dress that way because my friends do. Why should the police have the right to decide whether I've done anything wrong based on my clothes anyway?

I don't think they should. I'm just saying that considering what narrow minded assholes so many cops are, if you dress in a way that is associated with criminals, you are going to get screwed with by the cops. Cops often are assholes like that.

Another thing I suggest is getting to know a prominent public official. You can drop that person's name and mention how you know him in a friendly and nonchalant way while talking to a cop and shut his ass up really fast.

Get to know people who know people who know them. Then work your way right on into their cocktail parties or get hooked up with yard work or something. There are many ways to do it. If nothing else, talk to a cop as though your uncle's best friend is a public official, but don't do it in a threatening way. Say it like you respect the cop's job because he works for your good buddies.

I hate cops. I am not saying that all cops are the same, but way too many abuse the power. They know they can get away with whatever they want, And usually not get arrested, or if tey are arrested, for a very small amount of time. I do not have the exact article, but i had seen a story where a group of police officers came into a mans house because they thought he might have illegal drugs. He refused to sign the paper that they needed to search his house, so they beat him, maced him, and tazered him, one of the officers even tazered him in the testicles. they had a tape of the officers, one of them threatened to kill him. He ended up signing the sheet just to end the torture and he had nothing illegal.

Recently in Vancouver Airport in Canada a frustrated polish immigrant who'd been waiting in the airport for 10 hours lashed out and chucked a computer at a wall.

The police came in and tasered him and he died. When questioned about it the police said they acted in self defense but a video taken by a witness says something else.

Great this forgotten old thread came back to life!

I got some more new stories to tell about all this police corruption.

He's for starters: I recently got pulled over for not having my inspection sticker updated. He runs my license and finds that I have an arrest warrant. All of a sudden I'm treated like a murderer. Forcefully and rudly took me out of my car and took me to his police car. I was like why am I being arrested? He takes is time and finaly says, "you have an unpaid speeding ticket". I was like what? I"ve Never had a speeding ticket in my life, seriously, never. Either this cop was being an asshole like always or he didn't know jack and just wanted to get this stupid arrest over with. What I do remember of having a warrant for is an unpaid ticket for not having insurance. But this is what should of came up for what I should be taken in for. Not for speeding. Well he insists that I pay the bond, I was like sorry I'm broke. He didn't want to accept that as an answer, He kept trying to get me to pay one way or the other. I wanted to go to jail get it over with the hard way. But no, he wanted me to pay, MONEY. I kept telling him I dont have any money. So he goes around it and says your parents cant pay for it, a friend. I kept answering NO. Finaly being an asshole cops are says I'm going to have to tow your car. It was parked in a nearby church that I am very familiar with and know that they wouldn't mind my car parked there for a while. He didn't care less about what I said, So he says you better call someone before I take you, or your car is getting towed. I was pissed. I called my boss, who I am good friends with and let him know if he could drive my car a couple of yards (Yes it was that close to my house) Home so it wouldn't get towed. Then behind my back, they tell him if he could pay for my bond. I would tell my boss, DONT PAY IT, DONT PAY IT, DO NOT PAY IT! From the cop car, the officer could hear. Didn't give a damn about my own dicision. So my boss payed for it and I'm off the hook for a while.

But really, Do the Police department only care about money? Trying to earn their Holiday Bonus? I mean I know they loose money when they take someone in, (To pay for the food in jail and extra little crap they can afford form the jailmates) But to go to the extreme of just being interested in what benefits them. I mean I lost a good chunk of christmas presents money just paying for that bond. Did the cop consider my conditions, no. All he cared about was his paycheck. Plus this is during the time where cops were crawlling the streets stoping every freaking car that moved.

Well, this is just one of the types of things I have in store for you readers. I haven't even started on the police corruption that happens inside of jails. (Something most people arn't aware off, cause of their good luck) But for those who know what I'm talking about, a lot of crap goes on that the public isn't told when you go in their "Police Houses".

Enough of me, I want to hear about your stories too, so keep them coming, I'll be looking for some good links of videos.

For those new to this thread.

      The Poll title should say:

"HOW DO COPS MAKE YOU FEEL"
When I dream, theres always a
little girl playing in the dirt, that
turns to me and says "Why are
you here? .... Are you blind like
      me?"

      What I've found
      What I've known
Never shined to me what I've shown
      Never be
      Never free
I wish to see what might have been...
...So I talk to you unbeliever.

I walk in the rain. 1111

Corruption will always exist in police. It's a side-effect of giving them power over people and should be combated wherever possible.

But, what other choice to we have with law enforcement? Vigilanteism? Criminals running free? Police may be bad, but the alternatives are worse.

Cops seem to be pretty tamed around here. I have a few friends in the police force and they mostly have great attitudes. Police here are also pretty lenient when it comes to traffic violations. I would say that they solve far more problems than they create.

My friends older friend got beaten up by police in front of his gf when they called them because some dudes were attacking the house. The police were kicking the shit out of him on the floor and when his girlfriend taped it to use against them they just smashed the phone. It's a true story and I think the guy got fucked because of weed posession but the point was he wasn't the bad guy in the first place. The police in this town are literally fucked up though. Luckily most of them are racist so they "try" to take the fire towards the pakistanis but not in this case. And it's mostly the Pakistanis in violent crime, no offence but thats just a fact. White chavs are too pussy to go raiding houses most of the time.

I wouldnt say I consider them my friends, but I do feel that they are needed, and for the most part I do feel safe, not afraid of them, not liking them, just that if they werent there...there would much more crime than there is. Course I will always not really like them cause of kicking me out of skate spots all the time, but, w/e

I think a lot of people look over the fact the police have to deal with about more shit on a daily basis than any other job out there. Not to mention once you get in law enforcement your social life goes to hell, as soon as someone finds out you're a cop, chances are they aren't going to talk to you again or do nothing but make it awkward. I've grew up around police officers my entire life, I'm related to a few and my father is a retired sergeant. I've seen how the job affects cops when they are at home, the depression and alcoholism most people overlook. Are a lot of cops corrupt? Hell yeah, a ton are on a power trip, using power we grant them just to do what they want, but a lot do care about the job, and a lot are pushed into corruption by having to deal with the Mr. Drunk Redneck Who Wants To Fight You every day they are working.

I'm not trying to defend corruption at all, I can't stand hearing about someone getting beat for no reason as much as the next guy, I just think the public wants to paint a picture like cops should just be able to handle everything they see every day and not tend to go over to the dark side of it their selves. A lot of departments are trying to set up programs to deal with stress and etc, I don't think that'll cure the cops who just want to go on a power trip, but it will definitely help those who care.

(Sorry if anything I've said has already been repeated five times, I didn't read the entire thread)
