A topic by King and God brought to mind something I have thought about a few times.
      You or Ten others

In the event that the world as we know it will be mostly enialated and the people in power could save a very small percentage of the population, would you have anything to offer?
      If so, What?
      If you care to answer.....

I would suspect they would have a diverse crowd of individuals to perpetuate the growth of the "new" human race.
Scholars, Scientist, physically elite, brainiacs, Jessica Alba, hordiculturalist and so on.
      Lonely Dream Views Administrator???

I would like to delude myself and say because of my IQ results, art talents and business ambitions that I would make this group.
But when analyzed, realistically, it is not so.
So be it. The strong survive!
I would much rather the strong, than to save myself. My wife and family are a different scenario all together.

What do you think? You got IT?

Everyone thinks they are special, few people are.

Expect for me ofcourse, I am special. lol. I really think that. I am rather intelligent, hardly ever get sick, am athletic by nature, and hung like a horse... (ok maybe not like a horse..).

However, If they need perfect people: My eyes are pretty bad, and I am a bit to shy on average, and FUCK: I am lazy as hell

The idea of perfecting mankind by favoring intelligent/strong people has crossed my mind, only I think a 'better' human race holds no value if we are the ones that determine 'better'. It's just plain nazi...

Yet I would like to see less 12-children-families by... lesser intelligent people.

Did I even understand the topic?

I mean, I'm sure you saw the irony. But it needed pointing out again anyway.

In this scenario, would the new power sit loosely in power or would they be able to maintain enough to prevent a coup?

If things were loosely controlled by the authority, as it could be in a situation like this, I would attempt to take power for myself. If not, I would gladly be willing to contribute with my repopulate-the-world abilities, for the greater good, of course.

I know it is ironic, but I would lie if I didn't said I thought I was special. I however am certain that a lot of people don't perceive me as special. Maybe even the REAL special people might not percieve me as special.

But in my mind, I am special. I can't help it. I know it is ironic and somewhat self-contradicting. I guess it is something like pride vs rationality.

If you were chosen and your family was no.
      Would you choose to go?

(If you did not go you would all die. If you did you could theoretically advance the human race.
It depends on your mental state on leaving your loved ones behind.

I would join the resistance of the imperfect people and overthrow these "people in power" who are making the decisions.

I have 6/3 vision, im in good shape, I have a high IQ, I run fast I kick a ball far, I can catch, hunt kill, think teach, I'm good in bed (well, I had to think of something). And I want to be a fighter pilot. Do you think they'll let me in? Oh, I can code in C++ and Java too....

If I were given the choice of advancing the human race, or dying with my family, I would die with my family. Hands down easy answer.

At one stage I wanted to get a tattoo on my arm that said "Will this get me into heaven?" I think that could almost be appropriate in this scenario

I honestly don't think that I could leave my loved ones behind. Life from there on out would be shit.

Causing everyone to die? Or it will cause some nutcases to channel the anger of the people to their benefits. In the 'only the people in super-save-nuclear-shelters-will-survive' scenario, there really is little to resist, radiation is hard to persuade

I mean I understand the everyone-is-equal stuff, and somewhat agree, but if 99.99% was going to die, you just aint gonna choose some crippled, mentally retarded, fertile children to be 'rebuilding the planet'.

      -

On an other note, the whole scenario reminds me of Fallout. Funny game.

Who chooses the ones who choose who lives or dies? Should just be survival of the fittest. Let nature take its course. Besides, it might be like in Total Recall, and some good mutations might pop up.

I would hope that smart people would choose who to live or die. If the smart people are... smart, they just would select people most capable of rebuilding the planet or something.

And you mean good mutations, with imperfect people? What are the odds that those mutations haven't happened yet, with the 6 billion people that wouldn't get selected? And if they already had the mutation, they would just be in the 'survivors' group, right?

We should draw straws. You get a short straw, you die. That way fate, luck, chance, randomness, the butterfly effect, whatever you believe in would decide who lives or dies.

Howitzer - you SHOULD be there, because you are an entrepreneur. I should be there as well, for the same reason. We are business people and know how to survive through creating our own wealth and making our own opportunities.

We'll bring Moonbeam along because she has medical knowledge and knows her weapons - and she also understands basic economics and survival in terms other than taking what other people have earned.

People with the "I've got it coming" mindset will perish. People who think they are privileged in any way will perish. People who expect government or others to care for them will perish.

      That pretty much leaves us.

But I live in South Africa. My government is nearly as dodgy as George W. I'll make my own straws, because if I don't someone else will steal them.

Well, I am pretty sure that anyone with any sort of a defect would be ruled out. Since I am colorblind, I probably wouldn't make the team.

What is the total number of people allowed to live, out of curiosity? I think if we had a number to look at, we could more objectively say weather or not there are that many people out there who are better than we are.

Carlhungis, your name reminds me of a cunning linguist. Which always reminds me of a master debator.

Anyway. South Africa is getting better in some respects, but worse in others. I am screwed.
