Haven't heard about this, but I'll hunt around for stuff and comment

There was talk a little while ago about extending the compulsory education age from 16 to 18
Ie. making A-levels compulsory
this is nothing to do with universities, however
Universities cannot take everyone in the country
it's logistically impossible

This one got a lot of press....
it was a poorly thought out idea
and Abbey Studios kicked up a fuss about it
as they have a "viewing gallery" in the studio that allowed members of the public to watch recording sessions
it was deemed to be a public performance and so the studio needed this new permit
they refused
press got involved, and idea dropped
A lot of these "Acts" are not acts at all
it's MP's and community leaders proposing new ideas, etc.
for talk in the commons
and they get shot down within a week
(particularly if they get blasted in the papers)

Oh boy,
ID cards
well, I have my own views on them
but I won't write a long rambling post unless someone asks
