Vegetarians know the dangers of eating meat. From the hormones the diseases to the extra fat. But when vegetables are dangerous to eat, whats safe??

lettuce was once apon a time such a harmless food, low calories too! and then what - certain brands of lettuce were infected with...salmonella???

then it was peanut butter. Peter Pan and walmart peanut butter were infected with salmonella.

and most recently, very recently, it was olives - infested diseased filled olives!! the olives are still in recall last I checked, so if youre an olive lover please check fda.org (or your countrys equivalent)

several brands of pet food are being recalled - if any pet owners here doesnt know, you know now. around 60 labels of dog food and 40 labels of cat food are being recalled - mostly wet food. a lot of pets have already died and some markets are slow to recall themselves so double check you dont already own bad food that could be causing liver damage to your pets. it doesnt look like the pet food recall is over, today another brand of pet food is volountarily recalling their food - more might follow.

It kinda scares me when such simple foods such as lettuce can make you seriously ill. whats next? oranges? apples? . . . rice? corn? it seems like its only a matter of time before a major staple food becomes infected.

what do you think the real problem is?

if we were to treat the food economy like a patient, do these small wounds mean there is something seriously wrong with the whole, something wrong internally? or all all these injuries just coincidences?

please try to keep this thread on topic - this is not a vegetarian versus meat eater debate
