do you ever feel like your meant for something????

do you ever get the feeling your meant fo something??? and i dont mean that feeling we all get sometimes which says that you are meant for a high payin job somewhere....i mean something really large....cataclysmic...which effects everyone on earth i keep getting that feeling when i think about the future....

i understand that we all have this kind of feeling at one point (or more) but has anyone else had this feeling, the feeling that you are different than everyone else in a better way???

(i understand that i may be bordering on lunacy [and possibly paranoia]at this point but has/is anyone else in this situation.....)

p.s. i understand its only human nature to feel that you are meant for somethig big, and hope for it...but how strong can these feelings get???

You mean arrogance? All the time!

I dunno, the only such feeling I get is that I can accomplish anything I want to if I put my mind to it, but the feeling is never accompanied with an actual purpose, just kind of freedom to do anything.

Yea I know what you mean. Averages out to normal, I guess.

What I mean is: our universe is so big
But like our cells are composed of atoms and so on.

P.S. Thanks, it is AURYN I will explain that in further posts
      kinda reminds me of infinity.

P.S.S. I do feel like i was destined for something. I could tell you why but what constitutes "personal info"?

Yeah I get this a lot. Like this feeling that nothing matters because we are so small it terms of the Universe. I have this feeling that I just can't shake. I look at myself and I dont see a future. Its really unsettling. I'm a pretty successful person. I'm smart and go to a good school, but when I take a deep look insde myself I see nothing. Maybe thats just my uncertainty for what I want to be once I get outta college. Eh, who knows.
Why does it seem so hard to wake up now and see who we really are?

yeah i know what you mean too....thats sort of what i mean....u realise that your a small person in the universe but you have some sort of purpose to do something really big....i guess it does average out to normal, but with me and im guessing a few others it doesnt... the less smaller i feel the more i larger i want to get (if that even makes sense)

and by the way why do people think we're crazy when talking about these sort of things???

Its probably a subconscious thing. If you assert that you are somehow "better" than someone else, they won't like it and its easier for them to lable you as dilusional.

I get this feeling pretty bad actually. I feel almost like a lion in a cage; like a warrior in a business office lol. A passion that can consume the world but there is no where to turn it but on myself. It's like pulling the pin out of a grenade but there is nowhere to throw it.

Sure. The "Feel like an unique little snowflake"-Gene is build into every humans DNA. I am sure it has some role in survival or something.

That doesn't make it true however. :" ( Ahwww... bummer.

I once felt I had some sort of purpose. I once lived with meaning and purpose. I once thought I had the power to make a real difference. Now? I don't know. I don't feel special anymore. I just "am". Right now, my life is just something that simply "is", a journey to who-knows-where. I have no real complaints or regrets; I only wish I had some idea where all of this is headed.

One of the most difficult things I've had to do is accept that as far as I can tell, I'm not meant for anything - not stopping there, but even that everything else also isn't meant innately for anything. Nowadays I see the universe as a giant, elaborate stage with a zillion contextless props, and it's a human being's duty to invent a context between them all and with them make a meaning for himself. Not because the universe compels him to, but because he'd die of boredom, despondency, and depression without it.

I have to invent meaning for myself and find meaningfulness in other things through that personal context, but knowing that impetus makes it almost impossible for me. I can't get wrapped up in the flow of events out there in the world because I'm constantly tearing apart their contexts and seeing a whole bunch of meaningless nothing behind it all. The only thing I find inherently meaningful is happiness, and I've learned I can't strive for happiness directly or else I'll never find it. I have to be happy involving myself with other things in my life, but can't because I don't see the point to them.

If I get too self-aware of my situation I'll get sucked into a state of anhedonia where nothing motivates me and nothing pleases me, because I'm surrounded by an aura of intense nihilism that just negates it all. Why watch a movie, it's just a bunch of arbitrary scenes. Why draw, it's just a hand making arbitrary lines on a sheet of paper. Blast every enjoyable activity into consituent parts so meaningless by themselves that I lose the enjoyment I should be getting from the gestalt of them combined.

Well, that was a rant. Long story short: no. Hell no.

That's simply your biology instilling you with the need to both survive and excel. From a hunter/gatherer standpoint, it's your body's way of ensuring you continually try to ascend higher on the food chain and thereby strengthen your own gene pool.

If you, individually, were "meant for something", what does that say about the megathousands of helpless, starving people in the world who will not, cannot, ever amount to anything, by virtue of their birth? If we feel we are meant for something then this implies someone or something is navigating us into that direction. What a selfish bunch these omnipotent Fates must be if they have something planned for you but conveniently nothing but rapid death and decay for the untold millions in third world nations. A lot of times I hear born-again Christians going on about how "God" has put them on this Earth for a reason, that "He" has a specific role for them in mind. What a self-centered thing to believe. This line of thinking says that destinty has something in store for you (you in general, not you the poster) and diddly squat for more than half the rest of the world. What makes you (again, you in general) think you're superior to these people? Nothing. You were simply born into a privelaged society which affords you things like the internet.

Everyone has their own niche, a place which suits them best. That's simply your personality falling into place. It has nothing to do with what we're "meant" to do; it has everything to do with what we're good at doing.

Sometimes the simplest answers are the best. What's the meaning to life? The meaning to life is life itself.
Those who believe in existence are stupid like cattle. But those who believe in non-existence are even worse.
