      Making love, is it possible?

It is often said that we all have made love or can make love and possibly we do. < To a certain level.
Considering these two inevitable characteristics of life, is making TRUE love possible?

      ● We are young.
Frankly ignorant. We have "making love" on this pedestal. Why wouldn't we?
Much like a day dream, it is never as it seems. How could it be. Making love takes a lot of things to come into play all at once that is unachievable in our adolescence.

      ● We grow older.
Life is good and it is bad. It varies. Somewhere along the line, the innocence of our youth is taken form us. The all but impossible to avoid relationships we say, we learn from come to be. We love and hopefully get loved in return. What have we really learned? We have learned to harden ourselves against life and what it cretails.

Is it possible to land ourselves smack dab in the middle of these two scenarios?
This sounds very pessimistic. It is actually. I apologize for that. But don't you wonder what love could be if it wasn't f*#)@E^ with?

I feel loved and I do love, but I question EVERYTHING!

I have no one I love and no one that loves me.
So to me it's easy enough to see the fundamental mistake of "relationships".

Not only is there supposed to be one relationship where two people meet due to common grounds and actions in life, not through dates they go on thinking that searching actively will bring them true love. There is also not supposed to be any arguing between two people in love.

Quite a coincidence that this topic arose here because I've been thinking this over for a few days now: "People argue when they let their ego takes control but why in the world would you let your ambitions and pride mean more to you than someone you care for?"

I've seen plenty of people, around the DV forum included, that say things like "we are born alone and we die alone", meaning that we are always alone and whatnot.
But, in essence, we are alone only if we wish to be (unless fate decides to play a cruel trick or teach an unforgettable lesson). After all, being all-forgiving and caring for someone close, someone loved isn't a sign of weakness in the least...people simply take love and care for granted.
It's entirely true what they say, "You don't know what you have until you lose it".

No. I do mean sex. My thoughts began to fester from a thread by Nina called -"Evil sex"

Isn't sex on one level just the means to procreate? To reproduce?
Ii is our emotions that attach more to it?

Our level of consciousness screws up many things. Our sentience puts an obscure twist on most things. Much more something as complex as love. Love - hate relationships, perversion, adultery, libido, lust, fixations, obsession. All manifested and derived from a lovely thing we call making love. It is sex.
Is making love an emotion apart form the act of making sex?

I love ya Merlock. Just not in the traditional way. If there is a traditional way.
(Just noticed I put ya, instead of you.) An unconscious tweak?

I think these things are brought to light for a defense mechanism perhaps. "we are alone." - "a weakness."

You are right. We take so many things for granted.

It is pleasurable for the same reasons it is pleasurable for a dog. For the sake to desire to DO. The result reproduction. If nature does it right.

Sex, in my experience, is ALOT more than serving the biological purpose of reproduction. Also it means MUCH more to me than "merely a good time".

To me, personally, sex is a more than merely joyfull experience, which it also is. But to me it is where physical bonding and mental bonding blend together. In my eyes it is one of the ultimate spiritual/emotional unifications between 2 lovers.

I haven't ever had sex with someone to who I didn't allready have a strong emotional bond. For me it is a physical expression/manifestation of the abstract feeling we call Love.

If sex is motivated by Love, nothing could possibly be more innocent, good and pure. If sex is motivated merely by lust it isn't nececairily bad, if both sides of the party agree it has no "emotional" strings attatched, but it would probably be a rather shallow experience compaired to Love motivated sex.

Very good point SKA. What the motivations are behind sex. And us knowing the difference is the key.

Having come back to this thread hours later, I see this in a different light, thank god.
This is a much brighter ending, less cynical.

I have no idea what motivated or began such a negative thought process.
      Evil i guess?

I've noticed this before, it's amusing. Many people add in slight twists to the phrase "I love you" - I think it might be because our society puts so much weight behind the words that they have become awkward to say in any circumstances other than romantic love. Your using 'ya' instead of 'you' puts a more informal and less serious edge on the phrase which you are probably more comfortable with.

Yes. There is a huge difference between "making love" and just "having sex." SKA explained it pretty well, I think. The difference is purely subjective, true, but we are subjective creatures, and the fact that the difference is subjective doesn't make it any less real. There are many of us who are desensitized to sex and will have sex with anyone, anytime, anywhere, and they are some of us who will only have sex with the person that has their heart. In their case it is a sacred act, which should only be shared between those who are, mutually, "giving themselves" to one another.

Fundamentally, it's all a matter of perspective, but yes, it's very possible and happens all the time.

Haha. Agree. I've always found that amusing too, even though I do it a lot.

I reckon some sort of Love Generator would do the trick.

not to pick on you Merlock but I think this is a common misconception. No matter how similar a person is to you, there will be disagreements resulting in arguments. The difference here is the manner in which you and your lover handle the argument. but Im not relationship counselor so I wont go in to the particulars on that.

as for my opinion...making love is a true phenomenon, as was stated by O, we are subjective creatures and if we are in the subjection of love rather than lust, it is a rich experience to be cherished.

Duh. Of course it's possible. You should never consider that fact that growing old and all that rot should ever interfere with a moment that you would consider cosmic. It is a tender thing to do and your intentions are purposeful. You hope that your partner can feel some kind of cosmic connection to your emotional touch. It is a conscious risk as a matter of fact. Well intended by someone. I wouldn't even consider the two actually. I thought dreams shouldn't be forgotten. Movie love - well to the cynic. Making love - well the dreamer. I like to dream while I am awake. I like day dreaming. So I guess that I am in love with the thought that you can make love. So totally possible.

Short answer: Depends on your definition. It's kind of a non-question really.
