      Cloning animals for meat?

Wow this is some pretty interesting stuff, although it does raise some moral dilemas. Is cloning right? Should we clone to kill things? Would you want to eat a cloned animal?

What do you guys think about the subject in general?

How is that different from the current situation? The selection of pigs or chikens isn't random, we've always been breeding animals for food. The only dilema could be cloning. If the end result is a normal animal then I don't see an issue, besides it being "Evil" . But I have to eat, so I don't know what to do about that...

I agree. Cloning animals for food is not different than breeding them. Just make sure the cloning process goes correctly so that these things arnt harmful when we eat them

If it's safe, then I'm OK with it. But is it really more efficient than breeding?

I think it is fine and possibly the way of the future when combined with genetic engineering.

I think it is totally morally correct, as already pointed out it is no different from farming were genes are selected by men to augment the animal. Aslo we farm to kill and so it is no different in that respect and yes I would eat a cloned animal.

I think that really the only thing holding back this technology is the disgust of the religious community. The next step should be to include genetic engineering together with cloning in farming both in plants and animals to bring food to 3rd world countries.

^^ Absolutely. It's only wrong on a religious basis, but we all know that they're a bunch of kooks anyway.

I'd like to clone my cat and see if the new one has the same personality as the old one. Now that would raise some questions.

The real question is, why would you eat a cloned animal? Or rather, why clone for food purposes, when it's radically more expensive and less efficient than the natural alternative? The only reason would be novelty.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama
