      Your Character Alignment In RPG's

Not sure what forum to drop this in, so it is here.

I dont know how many out there play or have played role playing games, but I find I have a possibly interesting question.

I started playing Dungeons & Dragons in 1978, and played regularly with a few moderate breaks for almost 20 years. My playing was not limited to D&D or AD&D, but that was the primary game for me. I tried some I.C.E. Law, Champions, Gamma World, and maybe one or two others I dont now recall.

The question(s) I have is this:

What alignment of characters did you play in your rpg adventures?
IE: good/evil and any derivitave thereof.

Which ones did you favor? Why?

I've only ever played Video Game versions, not the table top ones. But (unless i'm really going or a specific character type) I play Neutral Good.

I always play the good guy, I hate being the bad guy and doing cruel stuff.

I'm pretty malleable when it comes to RPGs... so the alignment I play as is purely based upon the character I create. However, it tends to vary between lawful neutral, neutral good, to neutral evil. I simply go with whatever my mood dictates.

P.S. I also only play video game versions... never really got into table top gaming

chaotic neutral. It allows me to view any situation completely seperately from past experiences.

On a somewhat related tangent, I like games that alter your alignment based on what you actually do in game. I am not a big fan of games that allow you to pick your alignment and then basically do whatever you want even if it doesn't make sense with your chosen demeaner.

Thats a good point. When we played we made our characters initial history and alignment. After that the DM kept careful track of what we were doing and adjusted our alignments according to our thoughts and actions taken, as well as suffering upon us all the reprecussions from any changes to alignment.

I have played the full range of alignments and classes. I'm still examining the why's as to my alignment choices.

I have been playing all kinds of RPGs for years and go to several clubs, and I run several sites.

I always try to find the type of character which no one else is using, or the one which would shake up the plot the most.

As long as you're happy to play whatever, that's a great idea.

I don't do RPG's much (especially not the pen-and-paper types), but chaotic neutral definitely describes me best, and when I actually have sat down and played in the past, that's what I typically choose for my characters.
