The fact that the symbol for that new-age way of thought takes the place of the rectum in the original 'goatse' picture, refers to it anarchistic borrowing and combining of the ideas of other religions and believes, as new-age theories often do. The black monolith (covering the penis) stands for the progress of mankind, referring to the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey".
