Everyone is jumping on Cyclic13's choad for coming off as "all knowing" but I’m honestly not seeing any humility or self questioning from the other camp. Personally I think the 'not liking what you see when you look in the mirror' analogy holds.
If you like to discuss in circles and live in a paradox, then by all means embrace the pointlessness of Cartesian circles.Quote:

What is the point then in having any discussion about anything ever under this pretense? Furthermore, what is the point then in even living if you doubt the significance of everything including your very own existance?
If you are saying that we are reacting negatively because the criticism being offered is true and we simply don't like it, then I must point to you that you're ignoring my argument. In order to offer a reason to doubt ourselves or our own reasoning, we ought to be offered some substantial criticism or objective reason to believe that what we are saying is wrong, etc.Quote:

No, I'm saying that he is being criticized for coming off as arrogant and sure of himself when 'the other side' is just as arrogant and sure of themselves. It has nothing to do with who is right or wrong. If anything, I don't think anyone is even arguing about anything any more. It's just some kind of silly scientism vs. the mystics feud.
Look at my post at #114 and drewmandan's reply at #116 and you'll see what I mean. Granted he is low hanging fruit, but the point stands. We are saying the same thing, and he still manages to come off like a spazhole and make an argument out if. Of course it was a bit of a dick move on my part because I knew someone would take the bait...
And if... And if...
See?
Where's the discussion? This example is merely a topic.
I think these are exaggerations. The topic is about awakening/recognition, not ignorance. If we mention the relevance of illusions it does not mean illusions were not really mentioned. There is no use mixing contexts - this always brings confusion.
So I can help you with your questions more, please quote exactly the main part of this thread which you don't understand. Though I'm a little worried it won't lead anywhere apparently helpful.
Reposting this little gem...
ENJOY!
Knowledge is a prison people put themselves in, each day they make the universe inside their minds more and more complicated by tying on more informationt they decided to believe.
Believe in nothing except for the possibility of anything. If nothing existed, there'd be nothing to talk about, but it's opposite. Everything exists, every abstract thought in your brain.
You can say it doesn't exist in something like "reality" but honestly no one can say jack shit about reality because reality is the great unjudgable present moment. Reality has no qualifying factors to it. Reality is what we sense, see and hear, it's not the conclusions we come to from it. Once your brain reaches a conclusion about the world you're viewing, it stops being reality and you step back into your private universe. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, we need knowledge, I'm just saying don't let it imprison reality. Once you start saying this is one way and that's another way in reality, you're puttng limitations on yourself and your world for no other reason than to weigh yourself down.
The fool is limitless.
Exactly.
As I like to say...
"The subject is the object of it's own subjection. The object is the subject of it's own objection"
Rock on you crazy Bodhisatta!
O'nus and others realize that physical reality is an illusion perceived but mind, yet they get their panties in a twist when they are reminded of it. Their panties get further twisted when insights are offered as to the nature of the mind/illusion phenomenon. They are like little children that study a puppet show willingly ignorant of the strings and unconcerned with where they might lead. They stamp there feet and throw a tantrum when someone tries to point out the strings, because the acknowledgment of them will wreck their preferred world-view, the self deluded belief that the puppets are themselves running the show.
It applies directly. The question is will it stick? The prognosis is not good.
Funny form of symmetry there, between what we keep telling you, and what you silly wankers keep saying to us. A symmetry, at first sight. The balance tips over heavily because our 'side' comes with evidence. And with a giant scientific community that can can greatly agree about what is certain, greatly agree about what is almost certain, and greatly agree on what might still go either way.
'Your side', the side of the new-age wackjobs however, is so filled with different beliefs and blind assumptions it makes the thousands of denominations of Christianity look like a credible whole, somehow.
Anyhow, back to your alchemy and your non-heliocentric world view, or whatever kind of non-scientific nonsense you believe, mr ass-Enterer.
By all means study the fuck out of the illusion. Study every little last nut and bolt of the illusion. I love the illusion. Rock on with your scientific self.
Just remember it's an illusion. That's all. That isn't telling you anything you don't know. It's just a reminder.
And don't get pissed with those of us have have chosen to turn our efforts in the opposite direction, towards the reality behind the illusion.
There is no need for your anger.
The grand illusion...
:) Damn straight.
Take another look guys. Take a major paradigm shift. Into the infinite. :D
Reality is infinitely self-revealing, self-evident and self-effulgent, when you remove all those sticky obstacles.
Life is like one of those riddles, where the great majority of us cannot understand or solve the riddle with the nature of our egos. There is however, a way around this, to listen carefully reveals the enormous simplicity of what is.
