These two different viruses were traced back to a SIV that infected red-capped mangabeys and one found in greater spot-nosed monkeys. They believe that the hybridisation took place inside chimps that had become infected with both strains of SIV after they hunted and killed the two smaller species of monkey.

They also concluded that all three 'groups' of HIV-1 - namely Group M, N and O (see our strains and subtypes page for more information on these) - came from the SIV found in P. t. troglodytes, and that each group represented a separate crossover 'event' from chimps to humans.

Their investigation also revealed that some of the viruses resulted from genetic recombination in the chimpanzees before they infected humans.

Their other significant find, Dr. Fauci notes, is that the natural habitat of these chimpanzees directly coincides with the pattern of the HIV-1 epidemic in this area of Africa. Putting all these pieces of the puzzle together, Dr. Hahn and her colleagues conclude that Pan troglodytes troglodytes is the natural reservoir of HIV-1 and has been the source of at least three independent occurrences of cross-species virus transmission events from chimpanzees to humans.

The authors believe that HIV-1 was introduced into the human population when hunters became exposed to infected blood. Furthermore, they speculate that humans might still be at risk for cross-species transmission because the bushmeat trade – the hunting and killing of chimpanzees and other endangered animals for human consumption – is still common practice in west equatorial Africa.

This new report suggests that preserving the wild chimpanzee populations will be crucial for further carefully designed studies to better understand how cross-species virus transmission occurs and how infected chimpanzees resist disease, studies that in turn may lead to new strategies for designing HIV drugs and vaccines.

Now, ask yourself, since most conspiracy theorists believe the U.S.A. made the HIV virus to kill off Africans and Homosexuals, why would they travel to Africa with it to inject someone there? Why not inject an African or Homosexual here in America? Also, since the first case was not only found in Africa, but as far back as 1959, do you really feel they had what it took to make HIV back then?

its not entirely true that conspiracy theorists think the disease was intentionally made to target any group

the original standing was, it was created as a bio-weapon, and then accidentally leaked out. accidentally, because its 'creators' didn't realize how long the incubation time was. I mean, AIDs is a pretty silent disease until it gains in numbers, which makes it so frightening. there aren't really any early warning signs.

Actually, the AIDS deniers don't believe in AIDS at all. They believe that AIDS is a made up condition and that the drugs that are administered to treat the disease are what cause the symptoms.

Another related argument is that HIV is real and AIDS is real, but that HIV does not cause AIDS. This position actually has evidence behind it. For HIV to be the cause of AIDS, everyone with AIDS must be HIV positive, but,

Nitsuj. I wouldn't call the CDC a reliable source. Thier website is filled with stereotypes of latin americans and mainly homosexuals getting aids. ANYONE can get aids and die from it. Their site is filled with racism and discrimination. the CDC is also owned by the world Health organization. The WHO also promotes water flouridization. Flouride was also used in Nazi germany in concentration camps to keep people docile.

You can't trust these organizations period. and besides in my previous thread. I posted of a video of a top virologist Admitting that he brought AIDS to the USA. a top well respected virologist admitting that fact himself and on tape. I can't make that up. That guys own words proves the mentality of those kind of people. He also admits in the video of putting cancer causing agents in vaccines. If people are that fucked up. I wouldn't put it past them to manufacture a disease like AIDS. Besides the HIV strain that existed in other animals before it jumped to humans was very very different from the strain that people get today.

Sorry but I just can't that deeply shocking picture very seriously... considering it's been written in the Disney font...

Of course AIDs wasn't made on purpose. A disease which prevents casual sex... where's the motivation behind that one?
