Reality shows, sell-outs, plastic surgery, etc. Do you really have a quarrel with those things that are "fake"?

When it comes to personal relation, it is obviously a matter of emotional interaction between two people. In this case, faking a behaviour is wrong.

However, reality tv shows are based on the idea that they are real and happening. A majority of these shows are staged, just like wrestling, but does it really matter? It's more that it feel more realistic that makes it more enjoyable and easier to imagine the likeliness.

Though, when we come to music, it becomes more difficult. If a band makes a song and it is popularized and streams across the media, some people hate it for the reason alone - that it's popular. Though, many songs must have had to begin with only a select few hearing it and then sharing. Is it wrong to have many people like the same song as you? Or is it wrong to have a band make a song specifically for a movie or commercial? Is that even wrong? Most songs are dedicated to a story of some-kind, a dedication, a description, expression, etc. Thus, expressing and representing a movie or even a product is a talent of expression.

Take the most materialistic example; I write a song about toothpaste and how good it makes my mouth feel. If I am able to do a really artistic job about toothpaste and my mouth, does that not still qualify as talent though..? Am I really a "sell-out" and untalented just because it's about toothpaste? Is it not possible to make a talented toothpaste song versus an untalented toothpaste song?

At length, my question is this; can the expression of art really be denigrated by it's popularity or reason for creation?
