Yes, another drug thread. This'll be the fourth one on the front page. Who can blame me for making another one; it's a very debatable subject. I know that there are several Ohioans that frequent these boards (myself included,) and a few are quite outspoken. I've just learned of a petition for medicinal marijuana in Ohio. http://www.change.org/actions/view/o...al_marijuana_2

It is currently being considered for re-introduction in this 128th Assembly (2009-2010) by several Ohio Senators and Representatives. If the OMCA were introduced again and passed into law, notwithstanding any other provision of law, a person who is at least 18 years of age may lawfully possess a usable amount of cannabis for medical use if, at the time of that possession, the person has available a valid registry card issued from the Board of Health, or an authenticated copy of a medical record or other written documentation from a physician, which may be used as an affirmative defense as well.
The news isn't saying a word about it; they'd rather tell stories about little pot busts that mean nothing, but this petition's existence needs to be made known. The bill is written to be airtight, unlike how some people are claiming that petitions in California and Michigan have been made. I want others to spread the word, and if possible, sign the petition to ease the suffering of those whose conditions warrant the use of cannabis.

I myself can do little about it: I'm only 17 and my parents still believe everything that was told to them in the reefer madness of the 60's and 70's, but I know that others aren't in my position and can do something about it.

So if you have an opinion, post it. You can sign the petition, spread the word, or you can condemn the whole thing entirely. I figure that if Michigan can do it, then so can we! (And please, don't let this thread devolve into government conspiracies and the like. We know that they're true. We know that the drug companies are out to make us their slaves. So go put your little tin foil hat back on and leave us alone.)
