Well I guess that once again, this is another failed attempt at trying to be positive at DV. Idunno what I was thinking. Everyone here seems to see right through what I was trying to do, and instead focus on one minute detail, which I admit was poorly phrased, but had literally nothing to do with the rest of the post. But that's what the topic shifts to, because it's controversial. I guess I had a brief moment of stupidity. My bad.

      /facepalm.

You make me sad here, OP. <:U
What about everyone who comes after us? How's that irrelevant?
After this whole post about spreading love and committing random acts of kindness and to find yourself, that's all that anyone can focus on. Amazing. Truly amazing.

That was a poorly phrased statement on my part, and I didn't intend for it to come accross as though I am indifferent to the condition of the world. In California, I'm a huge supporter of becoming pro-active to protect the environment, and I regularly speak up about all of the terrible shit we do to the planet, so I promise, I don't need a lecture. What I meant was that by choosing to focus on how "bad" we are for doing this, we are not solving anything. We need to look at everything from a positive perspective, and then we'll be able to start changing things. The way we have been approaching it now won't change anything, and thus it's irrelevant.

I didn't think I "should" be doing anything in particular. Most people aren't like this, so I don't understand where your surprise that I wasn't either comes from. Not to mention, if it were obvious, the world wouldn't be as fucked up as it is now. So it shouldn't come to a surprise to you that not everyone is as enlightened as you evidently are.

Maybe I wasn't like this before, and maybe I'm still not, because of how people seem to still completely ignore the intention behind something like this, and zero in on an unrelated controversial statement just for the sake of argument, but I digress.

Sorry that not everybody wholeheartedly agreed with you, but this is a discussion board and that might've been a bit monotonous.

I agree with your main message but the point I was making is that if everybody is blissfully ignorant rather than just blissful which is what you said (even if you didn't mean it, I can't read minds), then things can quickly go wrong.

I understand what you meant, and I agree with you. No where on here nor anywhere else do I even hint at promoting that people should be ignorant and blissful.

I don't care if people disagree with me. I was upset because it seems like the entire point of the post was COMPLETELY disregarded. And it was.

Do you think people need to be told to think positively?

Absolutely. Do you not think they do? We were just having a discussion about something similar in the chat today. As a matter of fact, just look in the Help forum. I'll let every single post in there speak for itself. I have posts in there too. Think they're all thinking positively?

There is a thing that exists called the ego. Everyone's got one. Some people are more effected by its negative aspects than other people. Either way, we live in a very unaware, asleep society. To suggest that people naturally think positively in this society, is absolute silliness. So, I won't assume that's what you said. But in any case, am I harming anyone by saying, "think positively," and "you're a good person?"
