My dreams are more like thoughts than actual visual events

      New to the site :p
Well, after seeing Inception, i got a little curious and something came to my attention

I've always assumed most people dreamt just like me. But i've never actually thought much into it. My dreams, as far as i know, are just thoughts. I sometimes am aware that i am dreaming when i am dreaming yet i cannot actually remember truly picturing anything

After doing some brief googling and the like, it seems that a lot of (most?) people experience dreams in a relatively vivid manner, but for me, i cannot remember one instance where this has happened

In my dreams, its more like text. I have a vivid description of what is happening, but i cannot for the life of me picture any instance in my dreams. I wake up and i remember everything that has happened, remember my emotions, but its just like...i don't know, its not visual at all for me. Perhaps like a really distant memory that you just remember the story of...? Eh, i don't know...its like i'm actively reading a story, instead of watching a movie. I know i sometime feel vivid emotions, too

Like i said, i'm really uninformed about dreams and the like, so this may just be a stupid post but...is this normal? I feel like i'm missing out D:

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

I don't have very visually vivid dreams either. I don't think that's abnormal. But you might find that you'll remember a lot more from your dreams, visually and otherwise, if you start keeping a dream journal. The more you actively think about dreaming during the day, the more likely you'll have memorable dreams. And the more likely you'll have lucid dreams.

      Thanks for the reply

I do plan on starting a dream journal as well, should be pretty interesting

Just to clarify though...i know in my topic title i said "more like", but what i really mean is, my dreams are 0% visual. My dreams are not "not vivid," but rather, not visual whatsoever.

I'm hoping i will be able to change this, any other thoughts/experience on the matter is much appreciated
