recall of a non-remembered dream because of another dream?

i have this happen a lot. i have a dream, then when i am recalling it in the morning, randomly a different dream i had in the past pops into my brain. but the killer is that it is a dream i didn't remember when i woke up on whatever day i had that dream. it was just a lost dream, but something from the dream i just had triggered my brain to remember a dream that I didn't even remember. when it pops into my head, it feels like some long lost secret that was forgotten is remembered. It definitely feels like i had the dream in the past, but sometimes i wonder if i didn't just have the long lost dream THAT night, and somehow it got encoded wrong in my brain so it feels like i dreamed it a long time ago, kind of like deja vu. does this happen to anyone else?
