i dont know how the hell i missed this. i was in a dream, and there was an evil little girl that killed people, and i had to stop her without letting her know i wasnt on her side. well at one point she was a girl. and then a gerbil. and then a dog. and then a girl again. i really didnt notice this untill i woke up, and i wonder how many other things in my dream are like that. anyone else notice this?

To quote Inception, "Dreams feel real while we're in them. It's only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange."

I assume you were attempting a DILD? Try repeating a mantra to yourself for several minutes before you go to bed. LD should be the last thing on your mind as you go to sleep. Also, if you haven't started doing this already, RC throughout the day and question reality. Do this thoughtfully though, don't just go through the motions. Keep it up with your dream journal, that will improve recall and identify possible dream signs.

lol i just thought it was wierd i didnt catch a person turning into a hampster or whatever it was. im finding things in my dreams i never thought about before but probably happen all the time, and stuff like this can function as a dreamsign, though i dont like working at DILD, since it tends to be more random than other methods.

Of course! This is a typical example of the faulty logic present in dreams. It most likely is a result of the reduced activity in areas of the brain associated with logic and critical thinking during REM sleep. Your thought process simply isn't the same during normal dreams. Even in lucid dreams people often make clear logical fallacies, or don't notice something bizarre as even being out of the normal. Personal example: I am lucid and explore a dark city buss. I then walk outside and look in through a window. I see a small pale child staring back at me. My response? "Oh, that's cute " I think as I casually walk away. The instant I recalled that moment upon awakening I was astonished at how I didn't find that eerie at all in the dream.
